It's like they saw Starmer and wanted their own even less charismatic version

Layla join the...Greens?

i find it warmly reassuring that Lib Dems are gonna continue to Lib Dem, forever and ever and ever

Ed Davey possibly insanely unlikeable every time I’ve seen him on TV

beef stannin’ (gyac), Thursday, 27 August 2020 10:52 (three years ago) link

xp Probably true. As long as there's no similar line about the Greens. I can sense Alphie hieing this way apace

Shame Labour have moved into the space the Lib Dems were so excited to move into, eh

imago, Thursday, 27 August 2020 10:54 (three years ago) link

it's possible that they're just *all* shit, y'know and we don't need a team to cheer for

however i can envisage decent reasons why one might join the Labour Party or even the Greens, same can't be said for the LDs

these aren't football clubs, you only should support them if you feel they are worth supporting. my pro-environment, anti-Starmer vote is going to the Greens.

calzino, Thursday, 27 August 2020 11:01 (three years ago) link

even I think the Greens aren't worth shit tbh!

A Short Film About Scampoes (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 27 August 2020 11:03 (three years ago) link

god knows, dynasties have risen and fallen, entire batches of jam have been made since their leadership election started. Even their members fell asleep.

He looks like the pompous market inspector who occasionally turns up in Eastenders. That is the impression they've chosen to present to the electorate.

Also after a month of watching Swinson flounder in the face of furious attacks on her record as a member of the coalition they've come to the brilliant conclusion that what they need is yet another member of the coalition. Other parties at least take an electoral drubbing as a signal that they might need a slight change of direction but these guys just keep walking into the same rake over and over again.

Kieth just calmly leading as he usually does because Labour melts can post what they like on Twitter. Not that I've seen what was posted but would imagine it was some factional shittalking that no lefty MP would get away with.

Tweets on Tues fell below standards I set myself as well as those expected of me by constituents & Keir Starmer’s Labour Party. As a patriot, I’m v angry about those damaging the UK, undermining our values whilst abusing our flag, but that must not tip into foul language. Sorry.

I campaigned for Neil Coyle to be elected in the first place, because Labour sent me to that constituency. I didn't know who he was or anything. I suppose no-one did at that point. I have often rather regretted it since.

I'm obviously not planning to go back to work any time soon but city centres completely stripped of retail, arts, hospitality and service jobs is a pretty bleak prospect. It's easy to say 'cities will adapt, people will retrain, etc' but much harder to imagine how it'll work in practice.
