does anyone ever go non-zen on peggle challenges???

bnw, Wednesday, 1 July 2009 19:53 (fourteen years ago) link

s1ocki, what level did you manage to get 750k on? Working my way through the challenges now...

the third or fourth one. with the u-shape. using multiball. if you can trick it so the thing at the bottom catches more than one ball on a turn u get massive bounces. also really finesse those purples, especially towards the end. if you can clear hte board completely you're much more likely to get 100k bonus too.

i never use zen

Michael tapeworm much talent for the future (s1ocki), Wednesday, 1 July 2009 19:53 (fourteen years ago) link

I'm saving the Mass Effect game until nearer the date of ME2. I've already forgotten most of the plot of the original, if I play the iphone game now I'll just have even more to catch up on before I start the proper sequel.

I never use zen either. I always use the pumpkin.

JimD, Wednesday, 1 July 2009 19:56 (fourteen years ago) link

really? pumpkin is too random. I figure zen or fireball. I'm stuck on the last 350k challenge now ><

bnw, Wednesday, 1 July 2009 20:13 (fourteen years ago) link

fireball is almost never worth it imo

Michael tapeworm much talent for the future (s1ocki), Wednesday, 1 July 2009 21:04 (fourteen years ago) link

Used Zen a lot, but it's weird nature actually seems to prevent getting those REALLY crazy shots. Spookyball was really good at times, too. Gave up on ever hitting 750k tho.

Nhex, Wednesday, 1 July 2009 22:16 (fourteen years ago) link

u can do it nhex

Michael tapeworm much talent for the future (s1ocki), Wednesday, 1 July 2009 23:29 (fourteen years ago) link

It's more annoying than fun.

JimD, Thursday, 2 July 2009 08:17 (fourteen years ago) link

Thanks for the tip s1ocki! Gonna give that a go soon. Been trying to perfect my scoring abilities on the multi level score chasing levels etc, got about 600,000 or so on a few levels. I used to use zen a lot but then got wise to it, generally I go for a spooky ball and try to get a spooktacular on the go but I might try some more multiball action.

Kind of annoyed that if you clear levels and stuff in challenges it doesnt record it on the level select even though it gives you the big level clear thing.

Suedey 2, Thursday, 2 July 2009 09:39 (fourteen years ago) link

quite liking iShift.

are there any 3GS-only games yet?

stet, Thursday, 2 July 2009 13:04 (fourteen years ago) link

what is the point of zen anyway? even when it gets to "maximum zen" i find it doesn't lead to such incredible shots... is there a way u gotta use it?

Michael tapeworm much talent for the future (s1ocki), Thursday, 2 July 2009 13:41 (fourteen years ago) link

Yeah it's weird, when you first use it, it seems like the bee's knees, but after a while you do realize it's not as good as you thought, especially once you figure out how to make 100k/200k/etc. shots yourself.

Nhex, Thursday, 2 July 2009 17:06 (fourteen years ago) link

955,400! God, why did I stay up so late trying to do that. I ended up using Warren on the level you mentioned, s1ocki. Got a combo of magic hat and triple score that took me to around 500,000 then nearly cleared the rest of the level in one shot.

Yeesh. I think it might let me sleep now.

Suedey 2, Friday, 3 July 2009 01:11 (fourteen years ago) link

geebers what is your top flight control score

Michael tapeworm much talent for the future (s1ocki), Sunday, 5 July 2009 22:10 (fourteen years ago) link

finally beat the 400k one -_-

and yeah, zen blows for those challenges.

bnw, Thursday, 9 July 2009 18:17 (fourteen years ago) link

I'm having a lot of fun with Drawrace. Although beyond a certain point I start to feel I'm handicapped by my fat fingeredness.

zeno seems fun but really involving/interactive which kind of plays away from what i want in an ipod game.

Does anyone want to out themselves as an undeniable stan for any of these games? Are any games rated way too high, or too low? If you could only pick a few, which would they be? What's the best value?

Tom Pagnozzi (Z S), Sunday, 16 August 2009 14:22 (fourteen years ago) link

F.A.S.T. is a good dumb arcade-style airplane shoot-em-down game. I'd pay a dollar for sure, and maybe 2 or 3, for it.

I just bought Zooloretto for a dollar in a sale that I think is ongoing, but I haven't played it yet. I mention it just b/c of the sale (from $5 I think).

I love Civ:Rev on DS and this is apparently a port of that version, but since I have a DS I won't be getting it for iPhone. It was $5 last week but I guess that was just a sale (from $10 normally). It's $15-$20 on DS last I checked.

The games I've played the most aren't on there. They're Azkend, which is a hex-match-n game with really cool touch control; and Bookworm, the classic PopCap word game. Peggle is an obv. must too, I think.

i will stan for:

FRENZIC
drop7
geodefense
peggle
flightcontrol

spider lost in the house or whatever it's called is pretty good

these are all puzzly/strategy/tower games, which reflects both my gaming interests but also waht i feel works best on iphone.

one month passes...

The makers of Zenonia put out a new game: Hybrid: Eternal Whisper

Another action-jrpg, only from the side view. Lots of bits straight out of the SNES, too. Quite talky so far.

I'm really not sold on the ipod/Touch as a good gaming platform mainly due to the touch screen control quality, but anyone tried Hook Champ? It's this Umihara Kaiwase/Bionic Commando-type grappling hook platformer, works astonishingly well.
