Presales on the label's website, do you think? I don't use the zuckronimicon.

Do they have a European partner to pre-order from to avoid stupid customs and postage costs?

The "moon" vinyl (200 copies) was sold out at 8:08
managed to get the "eclipse" version though (400 copies)
Been wanting this on vinyl for years. Very happy

wish i had known about Norman Records.
i often say i have worn out a record but in the case of this it is actually true. original copies go for crazy money but mine has been played so much it must be totally worthless now. excited to hear it without scratches.
― stirmonster, Friday, 21 August 2020 14:30 (three years ago) link
With WAVs from Bleep as well.

yeah thanks for pointing out the norman option, kraudive!

Indeed.
― stirmonster, Saturday, 22 August 2020 19:32 (three years ago) link
indeed. (haha, "other messages have been posted since you last looked") I still get caught by these remaster-rereleases if/when they sound better than the originals, mostly, but it's gotta stop *some* time.

Second pressing just announced - better hurry!

And the reissues keep on coming:

I actually really like these compilations (I got them back in the day), they give a good overview of the band's output for those (like me) who find a whole album's worth of Coil a bit much.

dammit - well ok then, it does seem to sound a bit better too :(

Had I missed any news about this? Thighpaulsandra is putting out a Coil book drawing on their 'art and archives':

Also looks like Hyde has ANOTHER thing up:
https://infinitefog.bandcamp.com/album/sara-dales-sensual-massage
IFP presents a long-awaited complete version of “Sara Dale's Sensual Massage” OST with 8 exclusive and unheard tracks.Sara Dale's Sensual Massage was a delightful erotic video with a mystic soundtrack by Coil. Quite unusual for the band dreamy ambient, almost spa-relaxed soft harmonies, bland tribal rhythms, chimes, and birdsong but still with dark mysterious and inimitable Coil musick's charm. However, the second part of the album explores more rhythmic structures that remind 'Gay Man's Guide...' soundtrack.Besides the OST recordings, the edition includes bonus tracks from the "Basilisk prod.'s" era: “Theme From Blue”, and grandiose "The Hills Are Alive" so badly wanted on vinyl.

Per the notes on the Discogs page:
Complete version of Coil's OST for the erotic video “Sara Dale's Sensual Massage” including 8 previously unreleased tracks and bonus tracks from the Themes For Derek Jarman's Blue era. This material was previously partially released on Coil - The Sound Of Musick.

10 years. Oh my! Forever missed.
My MTPITD is en route and when it arrives I will try to sell my original pressings of 1 & 2. i'll be very sad to see them go but the times demand it. Eff you Covid!

This sounds wonderful on my new vinyl. Not sure I remember those deep drones on Broccoli before. There is a quality in Coil I don't hear in other bands and I think it's probably witchcraft. I may have had a drink.

No, it's witchcraft. ;)

― howls of non-specificity (sleeve), Friday, 27 November 2020 23:32 (three years ago) link
The art book just arrived and it's 1. massive + heavy 2. high quality 3. lots and lots and lots of content, some of which felt very personal (Sleazy replying to a fan letter from Geoff requesting to see a video of Sleazy getting pierced etc = I presume this would have been their very first meeting?)

thanks, w/ shipping works out to the soleilmoon price, perfect.
so much creepy shit to navigate with the coil reissues--cold spring is obviously run by shitty people, and infinite fog reissued tony wakeford's dorky post punk band above the ruins.

it all sucks but they didn't have wills so here we are
new MTPITD pressings sound great, at least

sleeve: what liner notes were you looking for 2 weeks ago? MTPITD doesn't have any? (my original CD has the track titles + A Chalice Recording / Graal CD002 on the back (the word Red in red, twice), then a multicolored ring on the inner artwork with john balance, thighpaulsandra, peter christopherson, drew mcdowall around it, and that's it for notes)

― willem, Wednesday, 16 December 2020 14:48 (three years ago) link
xps StanM it's extremely frustrating, but they did write liner notes talking about the MTPITD songs specifically, and they used to be online. They were not included in the actual release.
― howls of non-specificity (sleeve), Wednesday, 16 December 2020 15:10 (three years ago) link
Can you remember what website they were on? maybe check archive.org?
― joni mitchell jarre (anagram), Wednesday, 16 December 2020 15:42 (three years ago) link
90% sure they used to be on the damn Brainwashed site! SO frustrating, I remember they described "Red Birds" as "99% Thighpaulsandra" for example. Just a paragraph or two about each song.

from wiki:
"Jhonn Balance originally wished to create a cohesive set of liner notes for Musick to Play in the Dark, which ended up only being published on Coil's website at the time.[4]"
― howls of non-specificity (sleeve), Wednesday, 16 December 2020 15:51 (three years ago) link
"In them, he outlined the meanings of songs: "Are You Shivering?" refers to MDMA trips he took part in with friends, where they "would ask if each other were shivering, as pure doses can make the teeth chatter and the eyesight vibrate", "Broccoli" is "about greens and ancestor worship", and "Strange Birds", built around a found quote, refers to a period when Jhonn "regressed to BIRD MIND and only squawked and chirruped for three worrying days".[4] He stated that Coil had begun creating "lunar consciousness musick", and were "letting in things we shut out before"; "The feminine. The tidal. The cyclical."[4]"
Yeah that's how I found it :) Note 4.
