Mr. West first called a Times reporter for this article on Aug. 11, close to midnight on the East Coast but a couple of hours earlier in Cody, Wyo., where he lives. He had just tweeted, “I’m willing to do a live interview with the New York Time about my meeting with Jared,” referring to a recent meeting he had with Jared Kushner, Mr. Trump’s son-in-law, that The Times had inquired about.

During the call, Mr. West was upset and insisted on a live interview on Zoom, demanding that the editor of The Times be present as well, to which the Times reporter demurred.

“I’m Kanye, who are you?” Mr. West asked, adding, “I’m the head of everything.”

He also expressed anguish about abortion, said he didn’t reflexively support Democrats, and asked, “Does anyone at your magazine believe in Jesus?”

During a series of follow-up texts, Mr. West sent a video commentary about his candidacy from Mike Cernovich, a far-right activist, and also denounced a founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, as “an avowed racist” — she was recently disavowed by the group over her support for eugenics. He also sent myriad statistics about abortion rates among Black women, noting that they are higher than those for other ethnic groups, though the gap has been narrowing for years as abortion rates fall.

“Do you see abortion as the main reason you’re doing the presidential campaign?” he was asked in reply.

“How do these facts make you feel?” Mr. West texted back. “As a person.” “???”

Mr. West was later asked what he saw “as the purpose of the presidential campaign.”

“Do you have children” he asked in response.

“One of them has many of your albums on vinyl and plays them very loud,” the reporter told him. (“Lovely,” he replied.)

I question the veracity but it's an interesting means of transparency. pissing on a grammy afterwards is extra cool points and i'm pleased that kanye is clearly well hydrated. i dunno, this is kind of cool? music awards shows were generally considered boring exhibition and an excuse for more tv advertising until literally the exact moment kanye made people care about 'who gets awards' vs 'who doesn't.' he can't reverse this. at this point it doesn't matter how many of his awards he shits on.

Let’s be honest none of them will struggle money-wise. Divorce laws in the US seem like a clusterfuck to an outsider like me, no idea what a fair settlement looks like when they’re both worth a somewhat equal amount.

This can't be remotely true, can it? I mean Kanye isn't exactly struggling, but I find it hard to believe he's roughly as rich as Kim on his own.

they are both extremely rich, whether or not one is considerably richer than the other is hard to say. i don't think that sneaker money on top of being a huge recording artist is to be sneezed at, while kim k is obviously a tycoon in her own right.

the entertainment press is certainly in the pocket of big kardashian-jenner so even if youre interested in the nitty gritty, it's unlikely you'll ever hear much of the truth about this situation.

despite my better judgement and general old-before-my-time out of touch curmudgeon status i do find myself enjoying celebrity tittle-tattle from time to time, even when i barely know the celebrities, but i don't have much interest in this situation. does seem to be "about time" that these two divorced mind you
