NAZIS-ARYAN BROTHERHOOD-MOVING TO BERLIN

i dreamt i was trying to call my friend, whose real name is michael jackson, but i kept hitting the wrong number from my contacts list and this girl answered and i was like "hi is this michael jackson?" and she got angry and i was like "oh you must think i'm pranking you but i am looking for someone whose name is michael jackson, i must have the wrong number" so i called again and got her again and she was still mad and i was like "i just want to talk to michael jackson!" and she hung up on me and i never got to talk to him.

two weeks pass...

I dreamt I had a job at an amusement park. one of the rides consisted of a huge above ground pool filled with tiny boats that looked exactly like bumper cars. the guests were free to putter around in the boats as they pleased, but they weren't allowed to ram into each other. it was my duty to swim around the pool and push the boats out of the way whenever they appeared to be on a collision course.

after my shift ended, I walked to a brick tower at the opposite end of the park. inside the tower was an art gallery; I decided to tour it. where you'd expect to find paintings, a bunch of flat-screen TVs (or maybe computer monitors?) were mounted on the walls. each screen displayed a well-known masterpiece — the Mona Lisa is the only one I remember. the tour guide kept gushing about how clear & realistic the images were, but I felt cheated because I didn't get to see the actual works.

when my tour group reached the top floor of the tower, the guide knocked on an old-looking door. Ben Franklin answered it, and he invited us into the living room of his bachelor pad. it looked more like an antique furniture store than a living space. the room was cluttered with more 18th century armchairs, couches, desks, carpets, and cabinets than one man could possibly need.

Ben seemed pretty embarrassed by it all. he apologized that all the upholstery was so faded and worn. he said it would be pointless to buy new furniture because he was an old man & he'd probably die before he got a change to enjoy it. this struck me as the dumbest thing I'd ever heard. I wanted to interrupt him and say something like, "what are you, retarded? you're 300 years old, and if you're not dead yet, then you're never gonna die. buy something already." but I kept my mouth shut as Ben proudly pointed out the newest piece of furniture in the whole place: a spankin' new easy chair from the 1840s. what a dummie!

i've had this strange recurring theme in my dreams over the past year or so. i'm driving my car, sometimes drunk (though i never drive drunk in real life) and i inevitably crash the car. the weird part is that right before my car crashes, i tell myself that this is just a dream and everything's going to be okay if i hit the guardrail or a cop car or whatever it is i'm crashing into. i always wake up right after, super relieved that it was just a dream.

i don't have any sort of anxiety while driving in real life; i drive all the time when i'm home and i've been in one minor accident and gotten one speeding ticket in my life. my inspection is currently four months past due, though.

hmm. that reminds me (not in an obvious way at all) of dreams i used to get a lot where i was nearly blind. i would be shopping or something and my vision would be extremely fuzzy, and while i was sleeping i felt like i had pieces of cotton in my eyes. i don't know why it reminded me of that. recurring dreams! also the huge relief upon waking up because they were scarier than bad nightmares in some ways

blobfish russian (harbl), Tuesday, 21 July 2009 03:58 (fourteen years ago) link

xpost

you should train yourself to lucid dream, so you can mentally seize control of the dream and whisk yourself away to a peaceful highway made of cotton candy and marshmallows. I can't guarantee that this works.

y'all have it easy though. all of my recurring dreams have been pretty innocuous as far as dreams go. there's one where I visit this rickety duct-tape-and-plywood haunted house that's set up right in the middle of a Wal Mart parking lot. it's a 'nice' haunted house & I'm always pleasantly surprised that I don't run into any ghosts or goblins while I'm inside. recurring nightmares would suck.

had a crepey dream that i was always hanging out with my friend's landlord. the friend in the dream was not anyone i know, just some girl. her landlord was a short 40-year-old kind of awkward guy. i kept going to his apartment because he had a tv and i wanted to watch it. so we became friends+, but in public if i would see him i would be really mean to him so no one would suspect anything was going on. it was weird. what dose it mean

if i have recurring dreams about someone i haven't spoken to in a long time, do you think it means that i am somehow telepathically tuned into what is happening in their life? because i wonder.

i dreamt about babbies and abandonment/avoidance (but not abandoning babbies) what does it mean?

tehresa, Tuesday, 11 August 2009 20:29 (fourteen years ago) link

i don't know. was that it? more details plz. i had to learn about "save abandonment of a newborn" just in case it was on the bar. i lolled reading that section.

permanent response lopp (harbl), Tuesday, 11 August 2009 20:31 (fourteen years ago) link

the father of the babby was married to someone else but helping out but then after babby was born he disappeared and then there was another person that was not babby's father that was avoiding me (but the baby wasn't anywhere around at this time, i just assumed he was avoiding me bc of babby). also my crazy aunt wouldn't leave me alone about the babby and i just wanted some one-on-one.

but the babby was v v pretty and i lovvved her tons even though all the mens were so mean.

tehresa, Tuesday, 11 August 2009 20:37 (fourteen years ago) link

also before i went to the hospital to have babby i remember having a really hard time packing the suitcase to take with me. is that significant?

tehresa, Tuesday, 11 August 2009 20:38 (fourteen years ago) link

Let's see... Babby = some creative pursuit or professional output of which you are very fond. Could be an actual thing or just an idea, but it's something that you are totally into, even if it is maybe not the top item on your priority list right now. People who should be supportive of your output/idea are failing you, which is maybe why you have not been focusing on this output/idea as much as you would like. The crazy aunt is part of your brain telling you to COME ON AND GET MOVING ON THIS IDEA/OUTPUT, but you feel like you need to think about it some more, thus needing one on one time.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Tuesday, 11 August 2009 20:47 (fourteen years ago) link

what was in the suitcase?

permanent response lopp (harbl), Tuesday, 11 August 2009 20:47 (fourteen years ago) link

Oh yeah, the suitcases - that probably represents the material or mundane things that you feel like you need to accomplish to get where you want to be with your awesome idea/output, but these small things are, as small things are often wont to do, piling up in a way that is frustrating your progress.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Tuesday, 11 August 2009 20:48 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah and the fact that you were struggling to pack them up and that you had to take them with you means they are encumbrances you are dragging around and can't get rid of no matter how much they are slowing you down

permanent response lopp (harbl), Tuesday, 11 August 2009 20:51 (fourteen years ago) link

i was just putting clothes in the suitcase does that mean i can get a new wardrobe now?

tehresa, Tuesday, 11 August 2009 21:20 (fourteen years ago) link

Oooo maybe your clothes are holding you back, so yes. You can get a new wardrobe. It's the only way to make the dream babby happy.

I dreamt one of my favorite authors, dr. seuss, was friend's with hitler according to weird autobiographical book I was reading about him.

Also one of my common dream themes appeared again. This time I could do backflips by running up a wall. No one was impressed. (this might have a similar meaning to when stephanie tanner dreamt she was an astronaut and nobody cared but I don't really see myself trying to impress people in my life... maybe a girl if there was one in my life... or maybe a boss if I had an interview coming up)

Also I dreamt that I got lost on a school trip

What does any of this mean?

CaptainLorax, Saturday, 15 August 2009 19:46 (fourteen years ago) link

you are trying to impress your self, but even your self doesn't care. you need to do some self esteem exercises. then a boss or a girl might notice you.

you got lost on the school trip because you fear no one likes you, no one cares -- common thread!

you dreamt about hitler because you are a nazi. gross.

tehresa, Saturday, 15 August 2009 21:57 (fourteen years ago) link

ok really you dreamt about seuss and hitler because you wish you'd had more control over your childhood, so that you didn't turn out this way (you know the way that makes no one care, even your self).

sorry :(

tehresa, Saturday, 15 August 2009 21:59 (fourteen years ago) link

your first dream is funny considering the anti-Hitler bent of Dr. Seuss's political cartoons and the well-known theme of Yertle the Turtle. if you can't trust an anti-fascist like Seuss to stay away from Hitler's good graces, then maybe you're secretly suspicious of anyone who claims on principle to oppose corruption. you're worried that all your heroes will themselves as phonies, leaving you with no-one to turn to for guidance. you are deeply cynical, like all of us on Ask Dr. Fraud.

Nehemiah 4:3 (unregistered), Saturday, 15 August 2009 23:59 (fourteen years ago) link

(er, that should say "all your heroes will expose themselves as phonies...")

I vaguely remember a dream in the past week where I had made a poll on ILX and had the date set wrong so there ended up only being a couple people voting. I think this has been my second ILX dream. I'm not sure of the first but I might of had a dream while I was banned.

CaptainLorax, Saturday, 22 August 2009 02:21 (fourteen years ago) link

I think you don't realize how significant ILX is until it's gone.

CaptainLorax, Saturday, 22 August 2009 02:22 (fourteen years ago) link

man, you still worried about people noticing/caring! stop being so self critical and start having a better dream!

tehresa, Saturday, 22 August 2009 04:03 (fourteen years ago) link

I had a dream involving this guy I know IRL who looks like Steve Buscemi, and first we were playing music at a radio station, and then something horrible happened and I was visiting him in the hospital.

I keep dreaming that I'm on a plane and something goes wrong mid-flight. In every one of these plane dreams we have to make an emergency landing. Everything turns out OK but it's really scary right up until the very end. WHAT DOES DREAM MEAN?
