I really think every team is a different story. Everyone knows the Heat are deep and have great chemistry. The Bucks? Not sure they care about these games really. The Lakers seem to have truly bad vibes.

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 8 August 2020 00:12 (three years ago) link

the bucks have been trying hard save for the second half against brooklyn

the lakers offense has been the worst per efficiency in the bubble, they def have a problem

some teams like the bucks, clippers, lakers, rockets, etc were always only going to be judged based on what happened in the postseason, so in a sense nothing has changed for them in the bubble. but everyone is treating these games as if they are real.

J0rdan S., Saturday, 8 August 2020 00:17 (three years ago) link

i dont think anyone really wants to play the rockets, too weird

lag∞n, Saturday, 8 August 2020 00:22 (three years ago) link

im watching the nba tv show film room where kevin mchale rick mahorn and isiah thomas are watching game 7 celtics pistons 1987 and present day mahorn just got legit heated at a bad call against 87 him lol

lag∞n, Saturday, 8 August 2020 00:26 (three years ago) link

I feel like in a seven game series the Rockets are going to run into their usual problem, which is that any really weird-ass team becomes significantly less weird when you get to play them game after game. and now they're weirder than ever, so that issue might only be magnified.

my guess is they don't want to draw OKC, Rox have more talent but the Thunder are smart and disciplined and CP3 would be looking to bust ass on a level that's extreme even for him.

to illustrate: utah's deep reserves really put some heat on the spurs' starters earlier today. everyone is putting their best foot forward whether they're fighting for seeding or a playoff spot or a roster spot next year.

celtics came to play tonight

lag∞n, Saturday, 8 August 2020 01:57 (three years ago) link

stan van is great... if you heard him on zach lowe pod he does crazy stat prep compared to other ex coach/player analysts (such as his brother)

J0rdan S., Saturday, 8 August 2020 02:04 (three years ago) link

the celtics play the raptors very tough for whatever reason.

and yeah, stan has been awesome so far as an analyst. he was a very engaging interview when he was a coach as well. it was funny listening to him steal all of zach's planned stats.

call all destroyer, Saturday, 8 August 2020 02:07 (three years ago) link

what a weird game. the celtics are playing 8 guys like it's a playoff game and the raps are playing a pretty short rotation too but the celtics clearly wanted to make a point in this one.

call all destroyer, Saturday, 8 August 2020 02:55 (three years ago) link

they played good, raps not so much

lag∞n, Saturday, 8 August 2020 03:15 (three years ago) link

i very much enjoyed not just the quality of the celtics play but also their style, good smart scrappy team ball

lag∞n, Saturday, 8 August 2020 03:30 (three years ago) link

also tonight i learned marcus smart leads the entire nba in pull up 3 percentage at 42 which is frankly shocking

lag∞n, Saturday, 8 August 2020 03:31 (three years ago) link

surely for this season only

micah, Saturday, 8 August 2020 03:38 (three years ago) link

i also saw that stat and it blew me away, i would have had no idea

call all destroyer, Saturday, 8 August 2020 04:16 (three years ago) link

i for one encourage marcus smart to keep shooting as many pull up threes as he can possibly take

J0rdan S., Saturday, 8 August 2020 04:48 (three years ago) link

same, hoisting is key

ciderpress, Saturday, 8 August 2020 13:31 (three years ago) link

I feel like the Celtics' only real shot to make the Finals would've been if Toronto had somehow ended up the 4 seed. I think Toronto can beat the Bucks (probably would still pick Milwaukee in that scenario though) yet I just can't see Boston beating Milwaukee given their egregious lack of size. However, even before last night I would've given the C's a slight edge over the Raps in a series.

Evans on Hammond (evol j), Saturday, 8 August 2020 13:39 (three years ago) link

the bucks will fall to the orlandos magic due to their 7 game home court advantage

lag∞n, Saturday, 8 August 2020 14:09 (three years ago) link

The craziest thing about the bubble to me, and it took me a sec to really get a handle on it, is this is really a new season and a lot of guys made an off-season leap. Like is this just who Thomas Bryant is now? Seems like it

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 8 August 2020 15:10 (three years ago) link

yeah was thinking the same young guys had an opportunity to process and work on stuff

lag∞n, Saturday, 8 August 2020 15:11 (three years ago) link

rob williams has looked really good the last couple games for the celtics if he can take kanters minutes/give them some legit size it cld make a difference

lag∞n, Saturday, 8 August 2020 15:14 (three years ago) link

Gary Trent Jr looks like a 13 year nba player. Legit on defense

denver looks awful. can’t get any looks on offense and giving up open threes every other possession

k3vin k., Saturday, 8 August 2020 20:16 (three years ago) link

Denver isn’t taking this game seriously, Malone signaled the bubble regular season doesn’t matter and they took note

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 8 August 2020 20:18 (three years ago) link

ben simmons knee surgery. guess we’re getting another year of wondering if the sixers are good.
