i mean, fine. i don't think someone who was tolerant and easygoing would write the books this guy has just cynically for money. i think that is more of a stretch than saying his ideas probably bear some connection to his personality.

and ideas aside, as a person he seems miserable, fearful and prone to dramatic exaggeration. he actually isn't this swaggering carnivore with a gift for putting people at ease, or whatever masculine archetype you'd think his followers would want to embody. he's something like the opposite of that so it's odd to me that so many people put their faith in his advice.

I don’t think it’s one or the other, I think he’s adapting as he goes along. And the adaptation created a group of followers, many of whom are shitheads, and seems to have bad personal effects to his own life.

it's definitely orthorexic to just eat meat. even traditional communities that ate almost exclusively meat would have a much more varied diet than just eating steak all the time (the Inuit would for instance eat a variety of mammals, birds (and their eggs), fish, and berries, tubers etc. where possible)

I interviewed him abt 15 years or so ago, when he was big, and he was such a charmless posho. He seemed really coked-up and removed from reality, and went off on a long jag about how he wanted to beat up paparrazzi, and how they would snap him when he was out with any number of beautiful women and say things to try and goad him to react, and how he was ex-forces, y'know, so it wouldn't end well for the snappers. His twitter-era rebooting as some snark-wizard has never managed to obscure that innate charmlessness for me, and is actually probably an extention of it.
