When I come across mention of "the lockdown" my first impulse now is to check if I'm reading an old article or a recording from months ago. In what sense is there a fucking lockdown?

There seem to be more people on the streets than I've every seen. And a good third seem to be on rolling contraptions. What is this, Chorlton and the fucking wheelies? Even children used to walk somwtimes, I'm sure I remember that being the case.

I don't mean to judge, but it's stressful - even the ones not trundling uncontrollably seem to be driven by some weird compulsion to lurch towards me even when just moments previously they were standing still. Am I simply irresistible?

Sometimes people just want to get out of the house or, more importantly, get away from their roommates or significant others. But yeah, "same place" implies in-person, you are correct.

That’s been my summer. Basically 2 places on repeat all summer. Fortunately one of them has been Lake Michigan, which I never get tired of, even with the beaches closed.
