i don't have any beef with the individual pitchfork writers (well, the odd historical exception, but none among present company!)

for me, the fact that i frequently exhibit behaviors common in people who have been diagnosed with asd means that i need to put _more_ work and thought into how i present myself online.

there's an incredibly long thread here on ILM that takes Pitchfork to task for everything from participating in the music industry PR game to not giving BNM to certain genres to failing to catch grammatical errors to adjusting their year-end lists to make certain ~statements~, which suggests their sense of authority has been entirely earned whether you/we like it or not! If it's unearned what the hell is this cursed thread about?

thread finally delivers--I didn't know this was out already!

I'mma step out of my passive-aggressive irony and simply state the obvious (to me): contemporary jazz is infinitely more interesting than most of the shit that gets reviewed on p4k and Coin Coin Chapter Four: Memphis, for instance, deserved way better than an 8.3. Also, Taylor Swift's music is more like a 2.0 and as much as I enjoy Fiona Apple's previous albums, Fetch the Bolt Cutters bit off more than it can chew and is more of a 7.0 in my book and certainly not deserving of its plaudits.
