What are they mad about? It's an extremely positive, generous review. The only real negative criticism it has is the (accurate) claim it's maybe a couple of songs too long.

i don't have any beef with the individual pitchfork writers (well, the odd historical exception, but none among present company!)

for me, the fact that i frequently exhibit behaviors common in people who have been diagnosed with asd means that i need to put _more_ work and thought into how i present myself online.

there's an incredibly long thread here on ILM that takes Pitchfork to task for everything from participating in the music industry PR game to not giving BNM to certain genres to failing to catch grammatical errors to adjusting their year-end lists to make certain ~statements~, which suggests their sense of authority has been entirely earned whether you/we like it or not! If it's unearned what the hell is this cursed thread about?

I'm not necessarily in love w/the album, but I don't feel like the review really considers the music deeply enough (or maybe it just uses the terms "indie" once too often). I also think it probably deserved BNM, but whatevs.
