also I tried building a scene, dropped in just a couple of things and my 'thermometer' went up to 100 and it wouldn't let me do any more. not sure what that's all about

so there's 3 thermometers, i think - i didn't look into too much but it has to do with the amount of memory you're allotted for each scene. using lots of assets/elements uses up memory, and so does stuff like animation and logic

i'd guess that elements that are really detailed or have a lot of polygons will eat up a lot more of the memory than simple textures or objects

so how did you feel after going through most of the tutorials? worth the time and effort?

Ok, "most" is an exaggeration but I did a lot of them. I found them pretty intuitive, but the main issue I've had is with the controls. I am not very good at positioning the controller precisely enough to do what I want consistently. On the other hand, other aspects of it are very very intuitive to a shocking degree, so it's kind of a mixed bag.

It's also one of a subset of games that runs extremely hot on my system. Especially when you're putting a bunch of objects into a big scene it really had my fan going overtime, and once it even crashed my system. That was many months ago but it left a bad taste in my mouth and I kind of fell off using it.

I will say that making stuff is the most fun you will have in the game. The games people make are not fun enough to be the reason to get the game imo. But making stuff, even doing the intermediate tutorials, is really really enjoyable if you're wired that way.

awesome! that's exactly what i was hoping to hear. i'll keep at it for a while then, and see what it/i can do. it runs hot on my system, too. when i finally turned it off afterward the sudden silence was startling

If you're curious about game logic rather than level/character design, I'd suggest digging into something like GDevelop, which is a great first engine:

five months pass...

stop your grinnin and drop your linnen, dreamt the best game ever last night.

It's massive multiplayer. Everyone owns a base around a simulated real world map. To get around to visit other players bases you need to travel via airports. At the airports is where the public social part comes in and people chat whilst waiting for their planes.

When I played last night the servers were busy and plane seats were all taken, it was a looong wait in the airports. But it was great hanging around with other players.

At your bases you can fly huge bomber planes that take forever to get anywhere but can bomb other players bases.

Yeah. Took me a couple of work hours this morning to realise this was not the major ground breaking game that I initially woke up thinking it was.
