Petition to have Left evicted from his username

Andrew Farrell, Thursday, 23 July 2020 08:00 (three years ago) link

No, you don't understand, he's called Left because he is the Left, the only one worthy of the name in this whole godforsaken country.

Sonny Shamrock (Tom D.), Thursday, 23 July 2020 08:08 (three years ago) link

Corbyn was the best Labour leader since Michael Foot and brought a lot of hope to people even who had become disengaged with politics even though he was doomed to failure and sabotaged by the lowlife in his own party/campaign team. And he is a very decent human being as well. ffs!

calzino, Thursday, 23 July 2020 08:11 (three years ago) link

xp right, he didn't choose the game, the game chose him?

Andrew Farrell, Thursday, 23 July 2020 08:15 (three years ago) link

Free speech is under threat, which is why i have decided to bring libel actions against everyone who thinks i'm terrible.

John Ware here arguing that in today's world of social media "identity politics", free speech is not "sacrosanct", and that he intends his libel cases to discourage Twitter users from calling him a "rogue journalist". pic.twitter.com/7grydg6DUr

Calzino: 'best' might mean different things, but fwiw I'd say JC better than Foot. In terms of values, best since Attlee at least?

the pinefox, Thursday, 23 July 2020 08:20 (three years ago) link

I just learnt recently before all the SDP nonsense, donkey jacket slurs and the Falklands War, Foot was persistently polling 20 + points ahead!

calzino, Thursday, 23 July 2020 08:24 (three years ago) link

Yes, they really did a job on him.

Sonny Shamrock (Tom D.), Thursday, 23 July 2020 08:25 (three years ago) link

One of the reasons you shouldn't use the phrase 'Whack-a-Mole' in relation to outbreaks of a virus is because the mole immediately pops back up again and is never going to go away.

Trying to sue Twitter accounts would be straight-up Whack-a-Mole.

Matt DC, Thursday, 23 July 2020 08:26 (three years ago) link

He's likely talking about The Canary, Novara, etc

Rolling the dice on whether 12 random members of the public think it's fair comment to call a journalist a liar is something i would still advise against, tbh.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Thursday, 23 July 2020 08:28 (three years ago) link

Corbynism was probably always doomed, but still no need trash him or his legacy, all the odds were stacked against him. He might not have been the most dynamic leader but definitely the most consistently principled and decent one.

calzino, Thursday, 23 July 2020 08:29 (three years ago) link

John Ware is a terrible Islamophobe apart from anything else. Several melty types who are happy to provide platforms to sex pests sharing that JC piece and calling it ‘barnstorming’ - also JC now has Woodcock on its board, speaking of sex pests...

Yes, iirc Guardian report yesterday said he was taking advice from his lawyers.

xyzzzz__, Thursday, 23 July 2020 08:47 (three years ago) link

His lawyer is Martin Lewis iirc so i wouldn't completely rule it out but any normal one would tell him to drop it.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Thursday, 23 July 2020 08:50 (three years ago) link

I believe Jessie took some shit for her continued Labour support. I'm not sure Twitter has made the connection yet but kinda feel sorry for her if someone does decide to instigate a pile-on.

Matt DC, Thursday, 23 July 2020 08:52 (three years ago) link

Wonder if McNicol has a chance to win the action against Labour. The party finances will be in a worse shape (not least because many will have left), but maybe that's the chance to get big money back in.

xyzzzz__, Thursday, 23 July 2020 09:38 (three years ago) link

They can't go into administration because having Starmer as leader already already effectively hampers them with a 12 point deduction

calzino, Thursday, 23 July 2020 09:41 (three years ago) link

Ba da tish

calzino, Thursday, 23 July 2020 09:42 (three years ago) link

Lol presumed everyone knew Jessie ware was John ware's daughter. Nepotism is p much the only route to success in the UK.

plax (ico), Thursday, 23 July 2020 09:48 (three years ago) link

McNicol might have a case wrt data breaches but, again, i can't see him wanting to take a libel action through the courts. The challenge for Labour is that they've already made it clear that they don't want to fight any action in court either, so it's like waving a big sign saying 'come get your settlement payment here'.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Thursday, 23 July 2020 09:49 (three years ago) link

next you'll be telling me Laura Marling is a posh af tory *checks notes* oh yeah she is!

calzino, Thursday, 23 July 2020 10:05 (three years ago) link

Ware shared a flat with Felix White of The Maccabees and is friends with Adele.[38] In August 2014, she married her childhood friend, Sam Burrows, whom she had met at school, on the Greek island of Skopelos, where the couple had previously become engaged.[39] On 15 April 2016, Ware revealed that she was expecting her first child.[40] On 8 September 2016, Ware announced the birth of her daughter who was born three days prior.[41][42]
She supports the Labour Party[43] and endorsed Jess Phillips as leader in the 2020 Labour Party leadership election.[44]

Keir Starmer's first official policy as Labour leader is to strip Dizzee Rascal's seminal grime masterpiece Boy In Da Corner of its 2003 Mercury Prize and instead award it to A Rush of Blood to the Head by Coldplay.

scampos mentis (gyac), Thursday, 23 July 2020 11:07 (three years ago) link

there are lots of different folk things with wildly contrasting political outlooks

imago, Thursday, 23 July 2020 11:08 (three years ago) link

Laura Marling is a straight up aristocrat, her father is a Baron. I genuinely don't care about the political views of non-political musicians but I would guess LibDem - there are 19th century Liberal politicians in the family tree.
