take three when someone suggests the #onethread
four for emojis
― ||||||||, Wednesday, 22 July 2020 19:48 (three years ago) link
Five for when someone suggests starting such a thread without actually going through with it.
― pomenitul, Wednesday, 22 July 2020 19:50 (three years ago) link
If a Slack admin gets around to it, would love an invite to the server. Let me know if you need my email address, or if it can be sent via ilxmail

should be able to join off this link

Do we take a drink when someone suggests an "I Love Politics" borad?
― Please, Hammurabi, don't hurt 'em (Ye Mad Puffin), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 21:43 (three years ago) link
Ok, y'all are getting unnecessarily harsh now

1. How did we lose "random thread" and can we have it back?
2. "On This Day" function or date search that gives SNA from a particular date.
― オニモ (onimo), Sunday, 26 July 2020 13:12 (three years ago) link
1. Random threads is still here
― Scampidocio (Le Bateau Ivre), Sunday, 26 July 2020 14:00 (three years ago) link
1. OK cool how do you get to it from the menus and can I make it use my preferred css?
― オニモ (onimo), Sunday, 26 July 2020 14:02 (three years ago) link
1. Boards -> Scroll to the bottom -> Revive old threads!
― Scampidocio (Le Bateau Ivre), Sunday, 26 July 2020 14:03 (three years ago) link
1b. I mean at the bottom of the 'boards' page there's 'random threads', click that and then go nuts reviving etc
Cheers. Doesn't seem to be picking up css but still 👍
― オニモ (onimo), Sunday, 26 July 2020 14:05 (three years ago) link
NP! Don't know anything about css's though, soz.
― Scampidocio (Le Bateau Ivre), Sunday, 26 July 2020 14:13 (three years ago) link
I’ve sorted the CSS, it’ll work after the next server restart
― stet, Friday, 7 August 2020 18:33 (three years ago) link

Is there a way to killfile a thread instead of a poster?

not trying to be snarky but...you dont have to click it?
― methinks dababy doth bop shit too much (m bison), Thursday, 13 August 2020 14:50 (three years ago) link
Yes, that's true! But it'd be easier for me not to click it if I could just hide it from view.
― jaymc, Thursday, 13 August 2020 15:11 (three years ago) link
jaymc, someone else mentioned exactly that recently...possibly one of the mods? Anyway you're not the only one to request it.

I was skeptical at first but it's actually not a bad idea.

I'm going to start reviving What is it with TEH users of TEH board who insist on TEH posting irrelevant TEH fucking images found on TEH google based on TEHTEHTEH keywords in TEH thread title? it's TEH fucking TEH stupid, asshol every day.
― pplains, Thursday, 13 August 2020 19:41 (three years ago) link
how many times do I have to say it? only visit threads you have bookmarked (and add very few new bookmarks)
― solo scampito (mh), Friday, 14 August 2020 04:09 (three years ago) link
^yeah, p much all I've been doing for the last 2 years
― popeye's arse (Neanderthal), Friday, 14 August 2020 04:10 (three years ago) link
I delve into the ilx enthusiasms sometimes, and they’re often good, but I can always search or skim thread titles for something in the zeitgeist to interact with others on that topic. I do not need to think “hey, why is this thread about a musician I never cared about bumped up to the top?” only to click and get drawn into drama! Recognizing bad things that cause you trauma in engaging, and later seeing them and still not engaging... well, maybe hiding threads is actually good

a thread where users cast spells at each other and if we're lucky, some of them work

serious suggestion: spoiler tags
very frequently on discord people need to say things that might be disturbing or upsetting to others. it's standard to use spoiler tags in these cases in the hopes of minimizing distress to others
― Kate (rushomancy), Monday, 17 August 2020 13:00 (three years ago) link
how might those work? hiding the text of the post until click or something?
― stet, Monday, 17 August 2020 13:04 (three years ago) link
yes, or mouse-over
add emojis while you're at it
― ||||||||, Monday, 17 August 2020 13:05 (three years ago) link
and #onethread
― ||||||||, Monday, 17 August 2020 13:06 (three years ago) link

spoiler tags would be an amazing addition if possible
― mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Monday, 17 August 2020 13:12 (three years ago) link
Most sites e.g. tvtropes just color the spoiler text and the background the same so that you have to read it by selecting / highlighting the text.
― sound of scampo talk to me (El Tomboto), Monday, 17 August 2020 13:48 (three years ago) link
you could show the text on mouseover with simple css if you wanted to be fancy.
― neith moon (ledge), Monday, 17 August 2020 13:55 (three years ago) link
maybe not with zing though.

― caută tu singur (gyac), Monday, 17 August 2020 13:57 (three years ago) link
i'd say hide until click and not mouse-over. i wouldn't be using it for the purpose of hiding tv show spoilers personally. my thought is more that i have a lot of serious mental health stuff i tend to talk about.
― Kate (rushomancy), Monday, 17 August 2020 14:03 (three years ago) link
i might use it to
make the conclusions to my sentences even more mysterious
― The GOAT Harold Land (Karl Malone), Monday, 17 August 2020 15:09 (three years ago) link
sometimes people post links to videos and i don't click them because i don't feel like it, then karl posts how great the video was so i watch it. that's like a reverse
in a way.
― contorted filbert (harbl), Monday, 17 August 2020 15:15 (three years ago) link
lol <3
can we get a special harbl button we can click under every post, to automatically send harbl an email letting them know they should check the post out?
― The GOAT Harold Land (Karl Malone), Monday, 17 August 2020 15:19 (three years ago) link
lol i think i've been checking out too many posts lately, but thanks
― contorted filbert (harbl), Monday, 17 August 2020 15:19 (three years ago) link
everyone should get an email and text alert whenever anyone posts to ilx
― treeship., Monday, 17 August 2020 16:23 (three years ago) link
otm, and it should increase your heart rate like an Amber alert.
