For real?

Sonny Shamrock (Tom D.), Sunday, 19 July 2020 19:59 (three years ago) link

Saw it in FB from a guy who would know.

Left Eye Frizzell (James Redd and the Blecchs), Sunday, 19 July 2020 20:10 (three years ago) link

Weirdly enough he is not friends with any other ILX0rs, as far as I can tell. I am connected with him through a different route.

Left Eye Frizzell (James Redd and the Blecchs), Sunday, 19 July 2020 20:11 (three years ago) link

I saw some others music nerds posting it. So I did as well.

dan selzer, Sunday, 19 July 2020 20:41 (three years ago) link

My source usually seems to be super reliable. He has a recent picture of him and Emitt and he produces lots and lots of reissues which presumably he was doing with him as well at some point.

Left Eye Frizzell (James Redd and the Blecchs), Sunday, 19 July 2020 20:49 (three years ago) link

his fan club page on FB is open, lots of posts about it there too, some seem pretty first hand and no is disputing it.

Left Eye Frizzell (James Redd and the Blecchs), Sunday, 19 July 2020 20:51 (three years ago) link

Ah, guy I know did I Merry-Go-Round reissue.

We have a few Emitt Rhodes threads we could revive, two were started by me but don't seem quite apropos, well one of them especially.

Just went ahead with my other one.

Confirmation on fanclub page came from guy who lives in his house, my source says.

Left Eye Frizzell (James Redd and the Blecchs), Sunday, 19 July 2020 21:57 (three years ago) link

Which post I read as well and couldn't figure out.

Michael Brooks, journalist and political commentator, 37.

This year I met this young American, a journalist, who turned out to be a friend, who I thought that we would meet again. How is it possible? My heart and prayers go to his family and friends. May his passion for social justice be remembered and inspire people around the world. https://t.co/OgGmzh5kMl

Friendbook post by an old jazz musician, the one who wrote the book of Jazz Anecdotes, naming his source with whom I am unfamiliar. I have an email out for some other possible confirmation to Jon Hendricks guitarist/streetteam

Those pesky apostrophes.

Original source was Zoot Sims’ widow, Louise.

Noticed while googling that she had a medical costs GoFundMe set up in April--never a good sign.

Sonny Shamrock (Tom D.), Tuesday, 21 July 2020 23:40 (three years ago) link

Now that's what you call a long career.

Sonny Shamrock (Tom D.), Tuesday, 21 July 2020 23:42 (three years ago) link

Wow, hadn’t realized she was in that, and that film is part of my dreamscape. Was kind of shocked when I realized recently that Henry Brandon was in it playing essentially the same character as in Babes in Toyland. Did know that her feature film debut was as Judy Garland’s sister, I think. Also from watching that seems like almost the whole act I used to see at The Metropolitan Room was already in place way back when.

Left Eye Frizzell (James Redd and the Blecchs), Tuesday, 21 July 2020 23:58 (three years ago) link

Quite the life she had: acted in the 1940s with Judy Garland, in the 50s was Kenny Clarke and then Lenny Bruce's lover, in the 60s kicked out of LH&R for heroin addiction, in the 70s dubbed Britt Eckland's voice in the Wicker Man, 80s: Basket Case 2 & 3. All this despite being Jimmy Logan's sister!

everything, Wednesday, 22 July 2020 00:13 (three years ago) link

Just remembered that Henry Brandon was one of Judy Garland’s husbands for a minute or two, small world once again.

Left Eye Frizzell (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 00:14 (three years ago) link

Is that true about The Wicker Man? Seems like only a rumor.

Left Eye Frizzell (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 00:17 (three years ago) link

I was watching her in a weird 70s Hammer film just the other night, where she also sang the theme tune, "Straight On Till Morning". In fact I think it was on again tonight.

Sonny Shamrock (Tom D.), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 00:22 (three years ago) link

Never seen any say it's not true about Wicker Man. It's listed in imdb.

everything, Wednesday, 22 July 2020 00:24 (three years ago) link

She did the speaking voice, not the song. Ekland is on record as being mad that they got two women to dub her and another be a body double.

everything, Wednesday, 22 July 2020 00:28 (three years ago) link

Wow, never knew that either.

Left Eye Frizzell (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 00:34 (three years ago) link

The body double was because she was visibly pregnant at the time, though.

but also fuck you (unperson), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 00:54 (three years ago) link

I was thrilled that Annie Ross sat behind me at a MoMA screening of an Altman film (she was with Mrs Altman).

a couple weeks ago I played my daughters some LH&R records (I thought it would make jaunty cleaning music) and in 30 mins they went from mocking it to repeat plays after I left
