I hear that sometimes Satan wants to defund police (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 15 July 2020 00:33 (three years ago) link

of course they'd play a match like this when nobody can be there to watch. 3 goals!

I didn't see it, but apparently the Quakes/Vancouver game tonight was complete lunacy.

I want to change my display name (dan m), Thursday, 16 July 2020 03:24 (three years ago) link

have they just decided every 2nd half is going to have 10 minutes of stoppage now? cos they scored the winner in the 9th minute of stoppage tonight, Orlando had 10 minutes of stoppage last night, which seemed absurd considering the drink break wasn't THAT long, and only one goal, typical number of substitutions, a few short injury stops.

Lady Antibody (Neanderthal), Thursday, 16 July 2020 03:31 (three years ago) link

i mean if u wanna get technical about, we HAVE been stopping play for months until now, thats a lot of time to make up

Was thinking about crossposting to amazing goal thread but nah

I want to change my display name (dan m), Thursday, 16 July 2020 12:41 (three years ago) link

of fucking course, the first Orlando City squad that looks like it might be quality happens during a global pandemic ;)

Lady Antibody (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 21 July 2020 01:42 (three years ago) link

woohoo, on to quarterfinals. this OC team is legit, just still need a more solid striker at the back. also Nani has been kind of off his game.

three weeks pass...

TV coverage not realising Orlando had scored until a full two minutes after play had resumed - the MLS is back, baby.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Saturday, 29 August 2020 20:17 (three years ago) link

That made me so fucking mad

pass the cur's dossier (Neanderthal), Saturday, 29 August 2020 23:28 (three years ago) link

But HEY WE BEAT ATLLLLL

pass the cur's dossier (Neanderthal), Saturday, 29 August 2020 23:29 (three years ago) link

It's a pretty regular thing ime, the broadcast will be f-ing around with a replay or some BS and a goal will be scored off-screen.

Fire had about 15 mins of good play tonight and that wasn't nearly enough, even though it seems like nycfc is mostly bad too. Them playing at Red Bull arena is hilarious.

I want to change my display name (dan m), Sunday, 30 August 2020 03:57 (three years ago) link

Also to save money the away team broadcasters (well, for the Fire at least) are rarely on site even in non pandemic times.

I want to change my display name (dan m), Sunday, 30 August 2020 03:58 (three years ago) link

amazing what having to play on a real field does to the Pigeons

pass the cur's dossier (Neanderthal), Sunday, 30 August 2020 04:03 (three years ago) link

mega LOLs today with Brad Guzan failing to save a ball shot directly at him and appearing to shit the ball into the goal

pass the cur's dossier (Neanderthal), Sunday, 30 August 2020 04:10 (three years ago) link

It was a bizarre situation. Junior Urso scored and the ref seemed to have ruled the goal out, so he started complaining and play restarted off-screen. The commentators were discussing why it might have been chalked off and were told later that it had counted. idk how they got all the players back in their own halves and kicked off again in the time it took to show a replay.

The referee was appalling. An Atlanta player was kicked by a high foot hard enough to leave stud marks in his neck, while in the penalty box - the ref gave nothing, was told to look at it again on screen, and still gave nothing. Orlando deserved to win overall, though.

I'm not used to my boys being good. Enjoying this while it lasts

Neanderthal, Thursday, 3 September 2020 01:28 (three years ago) link

Blowing a lead in both the last two games and leaving 4 points on the field...fuck.

Against Atlanta's awful team even worse. They had zero attack but it just takes 1.

Sorry dan m

origami condom (Neanderthal), Sunday, 20 September 2020 01:43 (three years ago) link

What do you mean, it's been like this for years

I want to change my display name (dan m), Sunday, 20 September 2020 11:44 (three years ago) link

one month passes...

year is a clusterfuck. asterix or no, thrilled beyond fuck for us to have 38 points in 21 matches.

Cincinatti, meanwhile, got shut out for the 14th time in 22 games, and have only 11 goals this year. the record for fewest was DC in 2010 with 21 in a 30 game season. yowch.

Lover of Nixon (or LON for short) (Neanderthal), Monday, 2 November 2020 02:50 (three years ago) link

two weeks pass...

That Orlando v NYC penalty shootout was probably the most farcical sporting moment I've ever seen

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Saturday, 21 November 2020 22:07 (three years ago) link

Utterly ridiculous.

I'm happy we won but for a ref to not know the rules...and he's a two time referee of the year winner

Lover of Nixon (or LON for short) (Neanderthal), Saturday, 21 November 2020 23:01 (three years ago) link

The fact he didn't realise another penalty needed to be taken was *chefs kiss*

Glad Orlando won though, they got gypped for the keeper being sent off. What utterly repugnant refereeing. Hilarious seeing the Orlando manager dancing into the tunnel in sheer delight only having to come out and relive the anxiety again tbh

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Saturday, 21 November 2020 23:10 (three years ago) link

Oh yes let's not forget that he forgot they can't bring on a sub keeper cos they used all their subs!

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Saturday, 21 November 2020 23:12 (three years ago) link

Lol yea. I understood why OCSC was confused (the game initially "ended" on a NYCFC miss so the misremembered that they were actually shooting second) but the ref not realizing was ridic. NYCFC having to point at the scoreboard, lol

Lover of Nixon (or LON for short) (Neanderthal), Saturday, 21 November 2020 23:13 (three years ago) link

Having a CB make a game winning save is a new one.

Orlando is selling a special goalkeeper kit for Schlegel now lolol. Took them no time at all

Lover of Nixon (or LON for short) (Neanderthal), Saturday, 21 November 2020 23:14 (three years ago) link

He was probably off his line though too!

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Saturday, 21 November 2020 23:18 (three years ago) link

Weird disconnect seeing a lot of people at that game only to go back to Columbus Crew where the stands are empty. Go Florida! You obviously got this!

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Saturday, 21 November 2020 23:20 (three years ago) link

Most entertaining league in the world

I want to change my display name (dan m), Saturday, 21 November 2020 23:46 (three years ago) link

lol @ all of the articles coming out sharing PRO's defense of the ref clarifying a) why Gallese got a yellow (MLS still using 19/20 rules as season started in 19/20 season) and b) why Rowe couldn't be subbed in. Fair enough on A, but the reason everybody was yelling at how bad the ref was had less to do with his calls and more to do with him seeming not to know any of the rules and going back and forth no less than twice on whether Rowe could come on, or signaling game over at 5-5. his handling of the Rowe situation felt like it took a half hour.

Two goals in stoppage of KC vs SJ was wild, just starting extra time now.

I like Jim Curtin (former Fire player from when I was first getting into following them) and I really hate New England (olde tyme Fire rival from that same era)

I want to change my display name (dan m), Wednesday, 25 November 2020 02:27 (three years ago) link

That said if Bruce Arena can win with New England, that's a definite accomplishment

i think we coulda taken PHilly too tho

Lover of Nixon (or LON for short) (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 25 November 2020 03:14 (three years ago) link

Philly was so bad, very surprising

I think the only team I have left to root for is Minnesota, maybe LAFC if they win tonight

I want to change my display name (dan m), Wednesday, 25 November 2020 04:13 (three years ago) link

A friend who bets on MLS (lol) pointed out that New England has the best away record in the league, which this year is saying something given the way teams fly in and fly out on the same day

I want to change my display name (dan m), Wednesday, 25 November 2020 04:14 (three years ago) link

yeah, Orlando's first road game post-restart, they looked completely zonked due to the 4 hour same day bus ride to Miami
