My ballot is an overflowing mess. I've no idea how I'm going to get this cut down and in order.

Biggest discovery for me so far is how much I love the Janet album. I've been sleeping on that album for so many years. The second half is so strong.

Janet is still my least fave of her 5 (5?) megasellers. To many interludes, too many slow jams.

I'm realising my least favourite is Velvet Rope. Probably not a very common opinion round here.

xp i mean, pretty much every album of hers from rhythm nation onwards has had a ridiculous amount of interludes

yeah the interludes are pretty inseparable from the janet experience

slow jams too, especially a suite of 3-4 in a row

i don't love "again" but "where are you now"/"the body that loves you"/"any time, any place" is a great sequence on janet

i'm listening to 20 yo and uh yeah... something's still not right here. "do it 2 me" is pretty cool though

holy shit I'm starting from the first album and this is like..... really really good?? like ok yeah obv it's not as innovative or groundbreaking as her later work but as a huge fan of early 80s funky disco pop this is GREAT

yeah the ballads are clunkers for sure. I'm on "Dream Street" now and the first 3 songs are also fire

omg TIL Janet released a promo-only single for Pepsi in 1999 that I don't believe has been available anywhere else since?? I wouldn't say it's one of her all time best tracks but I def don't hate it and it came with a Masters At Work remix

The post-All For You records aren't doing a whole lot for me these first time through them, but for what its worth, "So Much Betta" (from Discipline) is the only thing I've heard so far that I think is flat-out awful.
