I agree with Chuck Eddy that her best albums are Emerald City, It Must Be Magic, and Lady T (though I haven't heard her post-1990 releases)

The posthumous album is freaking great.

100%! I love how she not only has that voice but you can actually hear in it her excitement and delight at what a unique and powerful instrument she has at her disposal.

Yeah, xxxxetcpost Congo Square is remarkable: first few tracks initially seemed like she was trying too hard to reassure herself, but then (this entry point and transition fit the backstory) she found her truth again through the music:"I've been through quite a few trials and tribulations over the last two years. I spent many of those hours in prayer and felt like God was putting his arms around me. I started thinking about the music I grew up on—how inspired it was. Each song I was coming up with began to sound like the style of some favorite artist of mine from the past... Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye, Billie Holliday, the old Chicago soul of The Emotions and the new Chicago vibe of Kanye West... Ice Cube's bumpin' in the trunk vibe and of course, Rick James. Somehow I slept on “Deja Vu” and “Now that I have you” being such epic jams. The extended live version of Deja Vu is good too, fleshing it out into some kind of prog-soul/post-disco world that she rarely recreated on studio records.

Is the 20+ minute live version of “Fire and Desire” w/ Rick James available anywhere in high quality audio? There’s a version on YouTube but the audio is only in one ear.
