It's been interesting trying to get the balance of the harder edged gqom with the fluffier amapiano.

Duplate Malice's label has a lot of interesting afrohouse with influences from both. Great to see him still plugging away all this time after the UK Funky boom.

yeah I managed to grab a really interesting deep afro house comp recently that didn't really seem to fit in with any gqom or amapiano stuff. really liked it.

of course I love a bit of amapiano but sometimes feel it goes the way of liquid drum n bass, a little wallpapery unless it's a standout tune

pattern loader and dog latin, I can really recommend you the Semi Tee album (it’s called I’M ONLY TWEENTYONE) if you’re looking for non-fluffy, non-pretty amapiano. Sonically speaking, it’s as close as piano gets to gqom.
The Kaygee DaKing x Bizizi album, Kokota Piano (Amapiano Vol. 1), while not as hard and dense, is full of bangers as well, and pretty damn fantastic.

Sweet, I will check for it. I love the amapiano tracks with those huge kwaito style basslines.

That C'buda M track in particular, just gigantic on a big sub.

I've been able to find a lot of this music in a lossless formats on Bandcamp and a service called Qobuz. Not sure whether anyone else here cares about that level of fidelity though.
