Why is Lisa Kudrow pouring water on a priest? Is that Paul MacCartney next to her?

Tuomas, Monday, 29 June 2009 19:41 (fourteen years ago) link

Next to the priest, I mean.

Tuomas, Monday, 29 June 2009 19:41 (fourteen years ago) link

There's a link to the explanation 6 posts later: she's his lawyer and Lisa Kudrow is his ex-wife.

StanM, Monday, 29 June 2009 19:45 (fourteen years ago) link

Ah, okay. Is the "priest" outfit some sort of traditional British barrister dress?

Tuomas, Monday, 29 June 2009 19:48 (fourteen years ago) link

I don't think it is, but it is quite strange: http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/03_03/McCartney1703_468x849.jpg

hey, pleasant plains. do you know john kushmaul (sp?)? he was a courtroom sketch artist for a time here for the local tv station he used to work for. forget which one.

andrew m., Monday, 29 June 2009 19:58 (fourteen years ago) link

How can one get a job doing courtroom sketches? I wld be very good at it.

baleen, the krill queen (Abbott), Monday, 29 June 2009 19:58 (fourteen years ago) link

I know John well. He was a sketch artist for the Susan McDougal trial. I tried to find one of his, but none of them are online. He was on CNN and everything! There was another trial he sketched for, though I can't remember what it would have been. Something federal here in town.

Abbot, our friend just grabbed a seat in the gallery, drew his sketch and sold it to the networks. He had to show up pretty early, and I don't know what kind of arrangements he went through to get all of his art stuff in there.

Pleasant Plains, Monday, 29 June 2009 20:02 (fourteen years ago) link

Huh! Maybe I could just do it for fun.

that 1 woman's suit jacket is kinda nuts

I'm pretty sure that was one of the victims who spoke -- she was all "EXCUSE me Judge Chin, I WAS NEXT. It's MY TURN TO SPEAK."

i didn't know he did it freelance! cool.

andrew m., Monday, 29 June 2009 20:05 (fourteen years ago) link

You're way too good for this, Abbott. But maybe it could be a way to get noticed?

StanM, Monday, 29 June 2009 20:05 (fourteen years ago) link

It's one arena where I wldn't have to feel I was competing with giants whose quality I cld never achieve.

baleen, the krill queen (Abbott), Monday, 29 June 2009 20:06 (fourteen years ago) link

I also only just learned that these people don't actually work for the court. Outside the court today there was a sketch on a stand right in front of the door and a camera crew all around it -- I guess they didn't want to wait until they got the drawing back to the studio or something. It was very surreal looking though.

Does anyone understand the perspective in this one? Is the bald officer sitting to the right of the Dutch terrorist or behind him?

Could be one for Up-the-arse corner

j.o.n.a, Monday, 29 June 2009 20:10 (fourteen years ago) link

If you imagine the blue bit to be the officer's jeans, rather than the terrorist's chair.

j.o.n.a, Monday, 29 June 2009 20:11 (fourteen years ago) link

I think I'll start bringing Prismacolors to work and doing these as practice.

baleen, the krill queen (Abbott), Monday, 29 June 2009 20:12 (fourteen years ago) link

Wait, why does the witness get to look at a computer screen?

baleen, the krill queen (Abbott), Monday, 29 June 2009 20:12 (fourteen years ago) link

I think that's one of the judges (black toga, just like the other one)

StanM, Monday, 29 June 2009 20:13 (fourteen years ago) link

Dutch judges look like this:

Isn't there a person in court who writes down everything that's being said? Maybe that's him.

Tuomas, Monday, 29 June 2009 20:14 (fourteen years ago) link

The STENOGRAPHER, a damn fine job.

non-AI is clearly superior

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Wednesday, 5 April 2023 17:26 (one year ago) link

what if you specifically ask the AI to make a courtroom sketch of Trump where he looks like the Grinch, though

soref, Wednesday, 5 April 2023 17:29 (one year ago) link

it would produce something amusing, but far too literal for that prompt
