imago, Thursday, 25 June 2020 20:52 (three years ago) link

dunno i've only got the radio on, makes everything sound more extreme, especially on the official Liverpool station 5 Live

never mind that shit, here comes scampo (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 25 June 2020 20:53 (three years ago) link

I mean it would have been a slightly rogue decision to only give a yellow there but i'd have done so

oscar bravo, Thursday, 25 June 2020 21:11 (three years ago) link

well at least the pundits can jizz this out of their system now, we play Chelsea last game of the season so things are still close

So many years of Liverpool won't xxx threads over the years. It's all over.

Congratulations to Liverpool and all of their empty seats.

Looking forward to some socially distanced celebrations in Scouseland.

That’s the thread title for next season sorted.

Wile E Coyote caught the Roadrunner huh. Guess ACME came up with some shit that worked

I'm old enough to remember my arsehole brother in a Liverpool kit (was it Crown wallpapers who sponsored it then, not sure) when they used to still have that league winning sheen around them. always knew he was a superficial cunt and Fuck Liverpool yah!

calzino, Thursday, 25 June 2020 21:32 (three years ago) link

The traditional thread title is ruined and I don’t like it

a hoy hoy, Thursday, 25 June 2020 21:33 (three years ago) link

Never in doubt.

Piedie Gimbel, Thursday, 25 June 2020 21:34 (three years ago) link

Just use Man Utd instead.

Future England Captain (Tom D.), Thursday, 25 June 2020 21:35 (three years ago) link

Thoughts and prayers once again with Michael at this difficult moment 🙏

Piedie Gimbel, Thursday, 25 June 2020 21:38 (three years ago) link

controversial opinion: we can still use the thread title for next year, Liverpool would have just proven it wrong for this season (if the traditional title had been used), who knows what next season will bring?

don't really have a strong feeling for Liverpool either way (hate Gerrard, love Shankly) but still feels significant to me that this absolutely huge club in English football have just won the league for the first time I can remember and I turn 36 next month.

Rik Waller-Bridge (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 25 June 2020 21:48 (three years ago) link

also congratulations to the legend VVD

Rik Waller-Bridge (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 25 June 2020 21:48 (three years ago) link

I'm happy for Liverpool, and for VVD and Gini (esp in the week where they turned their home country upside down announcing a boycott against the biggest Dutch footy telly show because they're racist fucks) though I already loathe the swooning Dutch fans - and I'm sure across the globe - claiming they've rooted for the club of Kuyt and passion and hard work to finally win a title lol.

Thanks mate, and congratulations to you too. Gotta say it feels absolutely lovely - tonight, at least, everything is right with the world again.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 25 June 2020 22:12 (three years ago) link

Congratulations to the new Manchester United on a tremendous achievement!

Matt DC, Thursday, 25 June 2020 22:47 (three years ago) link

liverpool won't win the league (again)

calzino, Thursday, 25 June 2020 22:52 (three years ago) link

It’s like Kissinger winning the Nobel Peace Prize. It’s meaningless now.

I think we should shut down this board and refrain from talking about this sport. It’s the only way.

(Chris, Stevie T, Ronan, other Rednoses of my acquaintance: I will buy you all a pint when it is safe to do so. Bitter, yeah?)

Michael Jones, Friday, 26 June 2020 07:59 (three years ago) link

Congrats

Hopefully with things already settled, both City and Liverpool honour their moral responsibility to field teams of kids, who are extremely unlikely to die from coronavirus, in their forthcoming fixtures against Aston Villa

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Friday, 26 June 2020 11:00 (three years ago) link

maybe in a minority on ilf, and there's still time for them to be pipped, but i think lampards chelsea are legit and will be even more so next season (if there is a next season)

oscar bravo, Friday, 26 June 2020 16:33 (three years ago) link

i wish that wasn't the case, but as far as this season goes yeah. don't think anything's a given about next season for umpteen reasons

never mind that shit, here comes scampo (Noodle Vague), Friday, 26 June 2020 16:34 (three years ago) link

Impossible to say really, but with having already clinched both Ziyech and Werner they're shaping up some nice version of Lampardball it seems.

Scampidocio (Le Bateau Ivre), Friday, 26 June 2020 16:39 (three years ago) link

the game will be harder next year when each player is fitted inside a human sized hamster ball

I hear that sometimes Satan wants to defund police (Neanderthal), Friday, 26 June 2020 16:41 (three years ago) link

i've kinda been assuming (based on nothing) that if next season does go ahead most teams will stick rather than twist in the expectation of some kind of stoppage during the season for pandemic related reasons.

based on that scenario there are a couple of obvious teams that have already improved from last season and during this season that should continue that next ie chelsea, wolves , man utd.

but like noodle said nothing is a given in football during normal times let alone now.

oscar bravo, Friday, 26 June 2020 16:47 (three years ago) link

my main ish with Chelsea would be about younger players keeping form two seasons on the bounce but as SV has pointed out they've strengthened. at some point can't help but think Abramovich will get his oar back in, too. biggest concern for the Wolves is whether we can hold onto our biggest guns and push on - no concrete reason to think not, but good as Fosun are they're not in it for the love of the game

never mind that shit, here comes scampo (Noodle Vague), Friday, 26 June 2020 16:53 (three years ago) link

have to imagine Jimenez and Traore are going to be heavily courted

I hear that sometimes Satan wants to defund police (Neanderthal), Friday, 26 June 2020 16:54 (three years ago) link

we don't *need* to sell, it might be hard to persuade them if they wanna go, Champions League might make a difference there but more likely to be about money. it's easy to get paranoid about journalist/agent chat now, which is a nice place to be. keeping Nuno still my number one wish tbh

never mind that shit, here comes scampo (Noodle Vague), Friday, 26 June 2020 16:59 (three years ago) link

my main issue with nu-chelsea is kepa, think he is mignolet(tho not quite karius) level

unless erik garcia is really rated i think pep/city will make an offer that can't be refused for varane or koulibaly which will help but still have a cdm problem in that rodri is no ferandinho and fernandinho is no fernandinho anymore either

oscar bravo, Friday, 26 June 2020 16:59 (three years ago) link

think he showed that last night

never mind that shit, here comes scampo (Noodle Vague), Friday, 26 June 2020 17:00 (three years ago) link

obviously adama and raul will be drooled over but i'm not convinced they'll leave this summer, i'm probably over romanticising it because football is about cash and players (rightly) wanna get paid but nuno seems like he is fun/inspiring to work for and another year of establishing himself as a stater/star probably wouldn't hurt traore's options

oscar bravo, Friday, 26 June 2020 17:04 (three years ago) link

Adama feels like he's a bit mercenary to me, never had time in his career to really settle. Raul is reaching an age where he might wanna capitalize on his excellent Prem form. don't hold either of this against them, just a nerviness from being in an unaccustomed postion, like i said.

never mind that shit, here comes scampo (Noodle Vague), Friday, 26 June 2020 17:06 (three years ago) link

push comes to shove a lot of our fans are deeply in love with Adama this season and yeah that's understandable but given a Sophie's Choice i'd rather hang on to Neves.

entirely possible we can hang on to everybody that we want to.

never mind that shit, here comes scampo (Noodle Vague), Friday, 26 June 2020 17:08 (three years ago) link

It's going to be a good summer for keeping hold of yr best players I think.

Matt DC, Saturday, 27 June 2020 10:01 (three years ago) link

i don't think anybody's out of contract, so all being well we'll be playing those lads in the Champion's League come whenever

never mind that shit, here comes scampo (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 27 June 2020 10:06 (three years ago) link

I meant more in general really - I don't think there's going to be much transfer activity full stop. In theory you're more vulnerable than most clubs to players and agents agitating for a move but you're also very much moving in the right direction anyway and should be able to keep the team together for another year, Champions League or otherwise.

Matt DC, Saturday, 27 June 2020 10:19 (three years ago) link

I suppose a few clubs might come to the conclusion that the only way to make up the shortfall is through player sales but it's also gonna be a buyers market so idk.

Matt DC, Saturday, 27 June 2020 10:20 (three years ago) link

like i said earlier everything's crazy unknowable at the moment? in theory a lot of deals should've happened already, but it'd be mad to spend tens of millions without knowing whst next season will look like

hotwire my scampo (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 27 June 2020 10:22 (three years ago) link

also thanks for reminding me we're the dinner time kick off, in my head i was waiting til 5-ish

hotwire my scampo (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 27 June 2020 10:23 (three years ago) link

Loan market might be crazy though especially as clubs look to cut their wage bills. But yeah, god knows when anyone will be watching football in a stadium again and until then throwing money at anything other than the most no-brainer signings isn't a gamble worth taking.

Matt DC, Saturday, 27 June 2020 10:25 (three years ago) link

oof waking up at 7:30 am to watch this is a doozy but go Wolves

Wolves a bit sloppy in possession at points, but the fact that they are once again a position to stick Adama on to massacre Neil Taylor whenever they're ready tells you everything you need to know about this one

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 27 June 2020 12:12 (three years ago) link

Fucksake

That would have been a comedy goal
