> is there a way to add these games to my Itch library without downloading them?

you can add them to a Collection. see the top right menu on the individual game pages

the bit i had difficulty with was downloading - hit download on the bundle page (in red at top) and that'll give you a page with individual download links.

anyway, minit downloaded (linux version).

koogs, Monday, 15 June 2020 17:55 (three years ago) link

Evan, Monday, 15 June 2020 17:55 (three years ago) link

Collection isn't quite what I want. I want Itch to register my ownership of a game without downloading the game to my system. Adding to a collection doesn't do that I think.

^^^ this is what happens when you just buy the bundle afaict?

lumen (esby), Monday, 15 June 2020 18:14 (three years ago) link

Doesn't seem so bad when weighed against a casual $9,360 discount...?

Evan, Monday, 15 June 2020 18:17 (three years ago) link

poly - if you click the "download" link it syncs the game to your library and takes you to another page, you don't have to download it immediately

Nhex, Monday, 15 June 2020 19:01 (three years ago) link

The whole bundle is saved to your account under bundles they kept it separate from your library to not overwhelm you but it will add individual games as you download them

Mordy, Monday, 15 June 2020 19:24 (three years ago) link

Anyone having problem downloading the Win installer file for Micro Mages? I can only get the NES rom to show in the client downloader. I had to download it manually.

am enjoying minit.

and 13 year old me is delighted that i'm going to need to make a map.

Baba Is You, Spelunky, Hyper Light Drifter, The Jackbox Party Pack 4, BioShock Remastered, and NBA 2K20

they added all these?!

oh... this is a different bundle

scampo simmonite (||||||||), Tuesday, 16 June 2020 19:45 (three years ago) link

really enjoying minit too, stay away from those walkthroughs!

kids thought my PICO8 game was rubbish. tried to explain that it was a deliberate homage to poor acorn electron games but it fell on deaf ears.

thomasintrouble, Wednesday, 17 June 2020 08:11 (three years ago) link

i have already looked at the walkthroughs

a) i accidently mapped ENTER to be one of the keys and then couldn't select anything from the menu (turns out the sword button (X by default) also works as select)

b) twice i've needed to hit a "random" thing with my sword to get further

mapping this is so much easier with it running in a window and a screengrab app taking snapshots every 5 seconds. the underworld bits are a bit of a pain because they both overlap and are dark.

Saw that LYNE is in the bundle, nice puzzle game from many years back.

Nhex, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 00:10 (three years ago) link

following, I bought this but have done nothing yet except DL Wisp

sleeve, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 00:14 (three years ago) link

any dumb car racing games? there used to be this great one for older pre-Intel Macs where you got chased by cops and could destroy them with missiles and bombs

sleeve, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 00:15 (three years ago) link

Spy Hunter?

Learned Leeegue (Leee), Tuesday, 23 June 2020 00:58 (three years ago) link

maybe? there were different levels with, like, snow/ice or water levels where you were a boat, really nice motion dynamics?

sleeve, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 00:59 (three years ago) link

(apologies if you were suggesting one of the bundle games, I will look)

sleeve, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 00:59 (three years ago) link

really nice motion dynamics

lol probably not: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spy_Hunter

Learned Leeegue (Leee), Tuesday, 23 June 2020 01:01 (three years ago) link

Also see Action Fighter, similar to Spy Hunter. In the arcades, but I hammered it on my old Amiga when I got it free with a magazine

Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 07:43 (three years ago) link

(not on the bundle unfortunately)

I've not come across any decent driving games on this yet

Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 07:44 (three years ago) link

How about no wheels racing?

Evan, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 11:42 (three years ago) link

oh there was something, Vienna Automobile Society.

Not your normal racing game. Basically all you do is choose the approach point for the bends on a track, the car drives around itself, to give yourself the best exit speed I presume. It's not great, interesting idea though.

Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 15:17 (three years ago) link

Going to try out Wheels of Aurelia, looks like a race/narrative crossover.

Also Vektor 2089 looks like a decent 2d dop down Wipeout type racer.

And non-racing, I love Trawl but not sure why. And it needs to be longer.

Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 15:27 (three years ago) link

yeah I saw a recommendation for Wheels Of Aurelia from Morday maybe?

thanks, all!

sleeve, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 15:28 (three years ago) link

uh Mordy ofc

sleeve, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 15:28 (three years ago) link

not from me! but sounds cool i'll take a look too.

Mordy, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 15:29 (three years ago) link

got ending G, looks like there are 16 endings
(or maybe more, just that it had a 1/16 after the G)
It's rather delightful.

so the car drives by itself but you can go faster which will stop it turning by itself and will also enable you to avoid picking up hitchhikers.

whilst you're driving you get to engage in chit chat, using the mouse wheel to choose your responses, but you can say nothing.

Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 16:11 (three years ago) link

oh there's the occasional fork in the road

Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 16:11 (three years ago) link

i generally keep to the right

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Tuesday, 23 June 2020 16:19 (three years ago) link

Vektor 2089 is a force! Don't try and play with anything higher than 120cc tho.

Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 19:47 (three years ago) link

Anodyne not's bad, in a retro-zelda kinda way.

Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 20:51 (three years ago) link

Another vote for Minit. Whole thing's a couple of hours. Only had to look up a solution once, thankfully. Not gonna go back for all the secrets though (though I ended up one coin short of being able to buy the speed boots)

Nhex, Tuesday, 7 July 2020 06:02 (three years ago) link

The speed boots were underused imo. Could've opened up a bunch of extra gameplay with them but as far as I know they were needed for only 2 optional bits.

currently playing Hidden Folks.

https://adriaan.itch.io/hidden-folks

it's bascially Where's Wally / Waldo, only animated and interactive.

previous to that was Don't Move.

https://stvr.itch.io/dont-move

which is a single screen game where you get achievements by moving left and right (or, spoiler, but probably not as it's *in the title*, not moving left or right). spent a lot of it wondering if i was playing it right...

koogs, Sunday, 26 July 2020 16:51 (three years ago) link

played the delightful Wide Ocean, Big Jacket last week. It's a short (1-2 hour) story game about a camping trip with good writing and some nice, relaxing wandering around sections. There's also a 20 minute or so demo prequel with no gameplay overlap that is worth playing too.

OK I have a super dumb question: are these all PC-only? I don't care if they are, good cause and all, but the one I've tried had an exe file.

ok, stopped working on that for the moment to do a willy clone for a friend's birthday. here's a sample level (2 screens from 16). get the candle. warning: difficult.

http://www.koogy.clara.co.uk/wally.html
keys are left and right cursors and c to jump

graphics are taken from one of the icon packs from the bundle (which was handy).

it's got proper x-acceleration and gravity, unlike manic miner / willy, which means the jumps are more variable - willy had one arch he followed, this depends on how fast you are going when you jump. it's really annoying!

koogs, Thursday, 11 February 2021 21:09 (three years ago) link

ha, brutal. I think my neighbours heard me when I missed the jump over that second star.

Two Meter Peter (Ste), Thursday, 11 February 2021 22:59 (three years ago) link

but i got that fkng candle

Two Meter Peter (Ste), Thursday, 11 February 2021 23:15 (three years ago) link

too hard?

i've just added a count of lives and done an end-to-end run-through of all 16 levels and it took about 10 minutes and 22 attempts. (manic miner gave you 3 for 20 levels, and had you collecting more things, but, as noted, was more controllable. also, it's harder because the sprites are fatter so the margins are tighter)

one bug i want to squash before it's done and that's the way you can walk over a two-space gap at speed - the velocity thing means it's using fractional positions but the grid is strictly 8x8 and sometimes you're over it, by a fraction of a pixel, before it realises. (same problem means you can stand on a collapsing block and it doesn't collapse)

For $5 to charity, I'll jump in, but there's so much stuff in there. Is any of it worth actually playing?

Nhex, Saturday, 5 June 2021 22:54 (two years ago) link

i scrolled through the Linux compatible games and the things that jumped out were all repeats of things in the earlier bundle - minit, all cats are liquid, pikuniku. but minit is worth the $5 alone

koogs, Sunday, 6 June 2021 00:44 (two years ago) link

Cosmic Express is really good. It's kind of like the "Tracks" pencil & paper game but with an ordering element.

There's a second abortion bundle too right?
I laud the effort here but there's so much junk in these, they need to lead with the more popular titles in there so there's some attraction

Looks great. I own all but 2 of them and I still bought it. The only ones I think I've completed are the blackwell games and shivah, and they were very well done.

adam t. (abanana), Tuesday, 17 January 2023 23:32 (one year ago) link

Similar boat; I've bought most of them in bundles, only played The Shivah though. That was good enough to give me years of faith in the developer.

Booted up Gemini Rue and I'm pretty sure I've finished that one too. I remember a late gate twist but not much else.
