I'm tellin' ya, Jess, more and more people are watching Fear of a Black Hat and thinking it's an actual documentary of the time.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 March 2004 18:59 (twenty years ago) link

oh yeah it's Milk from Audio Two, whom I haven't heard. He produced a lot of this and raps on two tracks. One of his raps recommends punching the girl's hating friends in the head and the other apologizes to Eamon for doing his girl in a bathroom, her "head in the bowl." I must admit Milk didn't charm me much.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 12 March 2004 18:59 (twenty years ago) link

WOAH. Ok, I just looked up Milk Dee on allmusic. Had no idea Eamon had such prolific pals.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 12 March 2004 19:00 (twenty years ago) link

poor giz

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 12 March 2004 19:01 (twenty years ago) link

one of the songs on the Eamon album samples Audio Two according to the liner notes, interestingly enough.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 12 March 2004 19:01 (twenty years ago) link

the beat to this song actually songs like a song I've heard before. anybody have any idea what I'm talking about?

Misty, Monday, 15 March 2004 00:55 (twenty years ago) link

I thought this was really neat the first four times I heard it. For some reason I had an image of a twelve year old black kid singing it. Finding out it's a goombah in his early thirties makes it terrible for some reason.
Am I racist or just corny?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 15 March 2004 04:18 (twenty years ago) link

both, but you're in good company here.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 15 March 2004 04:21 (twenty years ago) link

The fact that he's just some thirtysomething schlub from Statan Island makes it even better!

Colin Beckett (Colin Beckett), Monday, 15 March 2004 04:27 (twenty years ago) link

Eamon is 20

Adrian (Adrian Langston), Monday, 15 March 2004 04:37 (twenty years ago) link

Oh well

Colin Beckett (Colin Beckett), Monday, 15 March 2004 04:38 (twenty years ago) link

He's aging awfully poorly, don't you think?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 15 March 2004 04:47 (twenty years ago) link

I did think that with slight softening of the beats, this could well be a Daniel O'Donnell song. Seriously.

It's a #1 for sure. We likes our swearing over here.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 15 March 2004 13:55 (twenty years ago) link

I really hope the next single is "On & On." The FIRST LINE of the song is "every time I finish I can see it in your eyes." And it's not even the smuggest song about his sexual skill and stamina. There's another song about how you're loving the sex cuz it's better than X and that's why you'll fuck with him for the rest of your life.

Though "On & On" has a better melody.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 15 March 2004 22:29 (twenty years ago) link

if you dig those kinds of lyrics, Anthony, I'm surprised you're not down with Nickelback's "Figured You Out"!

Al (sitcom), Monday, 15 March 2004 22:39 (twenty years ago) link

a valid point, but the irony of the smooth sounds and his blunt, nakedly assholish lyrics is where the entertainment is. Nickelback's track is just ugly on all levels. Eamon sounds like a dumb shit Velvet Jones rather than a belligerent sportsbar enthusiast. It's not like I'm laughing with Eamon, I just have to acknowledge that I like to laugh and this stuff does it.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 15 March 2004 22:45 (twenty years ago) link

His song sounds like that Samantha Mumba single.. I keep on expecting to hear her vocals kicking in

jellybean (jellybean), Monday, 15 March 2004 22:50 (twenty years ago) link

It's not like I'm laughing with Eamon, I just have to acknowledge that I like to laugh and this stuff does it.

I have to agree with Anthony. Eamon's whiny toolishness is funny.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 15 March 2004 23:14 (twenty years ago) link

i actually liek this song (dont want you back) and thinks that it soo funny that frankie wrote a song about him lol is she gonna get sued? ((or however u spell it))

brooke, Friday, 19 March 2004 01:49 (twenty years ago) link

"r. dresses like a big gay zorro and yet has this face on that's like jake lamotta's at the end of raging bull"

i would like to apologize for all the times i insulted jess, he is on screaming fire on this thread

i sort of like this song god help me

.

alicia, Saturday, 20 March 2004 05:26 (twenty years ago) link

i think i like this song - the one i've heard on the radio, elsewhere is uptempo like good color me badd (actually more uptempo than that), but the one i saw on mtv was all slow like bad color me badd, all fraught with drama. i can't stand the normal 'fuck you you bitch' one but radio edit saves the day, again.

cinniblount (James Blount), Saturday, 20 March 2004 08:26 (twenty years ago) link

actually the slow one really reminds me of that ballad snow released as the followup to 'informer'. suxxx.

cinniblount (James Blount), Saturday, 20 March 2004 08:27 (twenty years ago) link

i find fuck it too boring to laugh at it. never heard any of his other stuff yet.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 20 March 2004 08:28 (twenty years ago) link

yeah, it's boringness works for it when it's uptempo (note: ghosttown dj's, inoj, and kp & envyi are maybe my three fave artists of the nineties), but downtempo is too much the pity party.

cinniblount (James Blount), Saturday, 20 March 2004 08:31 (twenty years ago) link

Why are u guys and girls hating on Eamon! he has a good voice u shud listen to da rest of da album it is good especially "On&On"

faye, Saturday, 20 March 2004 19:29 (twenty years ago) link

who did the female answer song? i heard it on the radio today and it made me realize how good the backing on the original is.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 21 March 2004 01:59 (twenty years ago) link

I've seen the response (I think it's called "Fuck You Right Back") credited to "Frankee"

Colin Beckett (Colin Beckett), Sunday, 21 March 2004 04:51 (twenty years ago) link

"Fuck It" is shit.

billstevejim, Sunday, 21 March 2004 07:50 (twenty years ago) link

The Eamon original is like Fred Durst gone R&B balladeer, and his voice is horrid, just one long endless whine... possibly the worst song I've heard this year. "Fuck U Right Back" is better though, largely because Frankee can sing.

The Lex (The Lex), Sunday, 21 March 2004 09:46 (twenty years ago) link

"'ello Eamon...how is it in Dublin?"

"Well, things is pretty bad there at the moment but there does seem some hope of a constitutional settlement"

Myonga Von Bontee (Myonga Von Bontee), Friday, 26 March 2004 04:40 (twenty years ago) link

It reminds me of Blowfly, in theory at least.

Daniel DiMAGGIO (Daniel DiMAGGIO), Friday, 26 March 2004 05:22 (twenty years ago) link

dud, end of story.

djdee2005, Friday, 26 March 2004 05:31 (twenty years ago) link

Classic, I can't believe I am enjoying (in some capacity) album tracks. Also classic for the intro track mentioning "Shaolin". ha ha ha, Eamon even if you are from Staten Island you aren't from Shaolin. Ho-Wop is the new New Jack Swing.

christhamrin (christhamrin), Friday, 26 March 2004 17:38 (twenty years ago) link

Is Eamon like Peaches inverted?

christhamrin (christhamrin), Friday, 26 March 2004 17:46 (twenty years ago) link

OK man look. I thought this song was some pretty serious stuff until I heard the new song by frankee....DAMN YOU GOTTA HEAR FRANKEE'S VERSION! SHE COMPLETELY MAKES HIM SOUND LIKE A FUCKIN RETARD!!!! that song was pretty good u til she sanged it and now she made him suck ass!!!! GO FRANKEE! AND HER SONG FUCK YOU RIGHT BACK!!!!

Summa, Friday, 26 March 2004 22:32 (twenty years ago) link

"Sanged it'!!!!

Colin Beckett (Colin Beckett), Friday, 26 March 2004 22:42 (twenty years ago) link

"HER SONG FUCK"

christhamrin (christhamrin), Monday, 29 March 2004 02:19 (twenty years ago) link

two weeks pass...
this is amazing. there should be more of this kind of thing. cussfilled slinky r&b break up songs from two perspectives! it could be a very clever plan to get them both exposure but i hope it's all pure vitriol. Right now i'm taking sides with Frankie.

myke boomnoise (myke boomnoise), Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:24 (twenty years ago) link

I'm lighting a candle for Milk Dee here.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 15 April 2004 11:08 (twenty years ago) link

still not heard it

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 15 April 2004 12:00 (twenty years ago) link

I still like it! I'm not embarassed to write that in normal size fonts.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Thursday, 15 April 2004 16:38 (twenty years ago) link

The video is so cheap. I know that shouldn't matter, but it does. They didn't even eat the pizza, I assume because it's what they paid the camera man with.

It's going to be number for 3 weeks.
