Can someone explain to me what, exactly, Darren Emerson was doing in Underworld, with examples provided from the recorded music? I can one sound in "River of Bass" that seems to be emanating from a DJ and aside from that I figure him for dead weight. If I'm out of it, enlighten me quick. ― roxymuzak, Thursday, July 10, 2008 12:48 AM

"to heal" was at the very end of my ballot, next to "moaner." it's gorgeous, the kind of ambient that makes you feel like you're falling in slow motion between stars

A lost masterpiece, the sound the production everything just wonderful. Still blows me away all these many years later.
This is indeed one of the best, elegantly timeless & atmospheric songs released by a New Wave or Electronica band in the 1980s, for sure! : )
this is the best song of the 80's ,when they play the first time, nobody knew what to do , they where too ahead of time
live video 1985 (wrong aspect ratio)
My opinion - this is the most beautiful song of the 80's!

I heard this first hand in 1983 as a 14 year old and thought it as wierd and wonderful at the time but would not actually hear it again until many years later on a compliation, nowadays it sounds utterly superb to me!

The hypnoctic Underworld sound spiced with chilled jazzy elements... I'm gonna listen to this till my ears fall off.
I ask myself: “Self, doz it get any better as time goes on?” ...and Underworld reply with this mind-numbingly amazing intoxication of the senses. They just keep on bringing light in to a dark place. Play on, my players. Play on.
A musical journey with both calm and thrill is just what I wanted.

I love the combination of laid back beach vibes with at times a melancholic feel. *hits repeat*
Perfect combination of minimal techno and jazzy feel and its driven by so well made drums. Thats really the best part of it for me. Subtle Cups reference for me. Perfect. Just perfect, I really hope this goes on an album. There could be some instrumentals, like Hamburg Hotel and this is no worse than Hamburg Hotel itself. This is perfect mood, on repeat here.
