i mean i shd say his defensive stats have improved but they're still negative

Yeah in 18-19 he was literally bottom five in defense which is hard to fade

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 14 May 2020 15:35 (three years ago) link

he's still young, but he's been in league for 5 years and the suns are still bad, so idk how to measure him. feels like he'd need to be on a balanced team with excellent D around him for to have the freedom to blowtorch on offense.

to me they have the opposite effect of what you want. they feel great when you grab it at first or dribble around or shoot a bit.. but as soon as you get sweaty they (depending on the ball) get harder and more slippery. the leather ball is the opposite, feels like a brick when you grab it at first but one game in there's nothing better. and you can use the glass with way more control cos it doesnt grip the glass it's more of a natural bounce off of it.

This is exactly what I tell ppl when they bitch about the leather ball. And they ALL bitch. Except for Mr SemiPro, Cam, who cannot stand the soft Wilsons.

my thoughts too. Booker is 2 guard Melo 2.0.

basically he needs to be the young upstart on a team of vets basically he needs to go to the spurs in 2016

its why in theory i liked him alongside rubio, oubre and bridges. we just havent seen them play together enough to know if it will work.

I don't think I'll ever get over losing Ricky.
he's such an enigma in how in some aspects he's a really amazing and uniquely skilled player and aesthetically pleasing but at the same time ultimately mediocre overall

but really the essence of being a Wolves fan is trying to find things that are fun to watch in the middle of disastrous shitshow after disastrous shitshow and he's really one of the great Wolves to me in that sense

for sure

Ricky Rubio stopped improving at basketball at the age of 14 and somehow this was enough to be a rock solid NBA starter for a decade plus

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 14 May 2020 21:57 (three years ago) link

i was just noting that! he has become a slightly better shooter but he has the most consistent production of anyone i've ever seen

spencer dinwiddie is doing.....something

Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie (@SDinwiddie_25) says he will sign a one-year deal with the NBA team fans decide if they reach Bitcoin target of roughly $24,632,630 on a GoFundMe. Dinwiddie’s statement: pic.twitter.com/oebwkoFBEO

that's what i'm saying! this makes no sense.

Any team would take him at the right price

lol

LeBron says he seriously considered switching to football during the 2011 lockout and even got a contract offer from Jerry Jones - in writing. So how good could he have been?

Rough NBA timeline that was mentioned to me from a team exec today:
Early June - Back in facilities
Mid-late June - Camp
Early July - Travel to single-site
Mid July - Games start
Labor Day-ish - Season ends
Mid Sept. - Draft
Week later - Free agency
Xmas-ish - 20-21 season starts

RIP, Jerry Sloan.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 22 May 2020 15:21 (three years ago) link

constant basketball.....

Told today that if the NBA does resume with all 30 teams at a single-site, game days are likely to look like Summer League. Games would be almost all day long (starting around 12:00 noon ET) until the regular season is complete. Playoffs would follow a more regular schedule.

rad pics

I loved everything about Jerry Sloan, from the way he played to the way he coached. He was a tenacious competitor who represented the Bulls of the 70s so well. Jerry became one of my favorite coaches when he was on the 1996 Dream Team staff and it was an honor to learn from him. pic.twitter.com/pEhbmiFbzp

If the players are convinced it's a good, safe plan and get on board, the other details that have leaked are looking very promising. I give it a better than 50-50 chance to happen. More like 75-25 imo.

A 16-team format or play-in tournament FAIL to account for how shuffling in the standings would occur for bubble teams AND seeds 2-7 had the regular season resumed.

The group stage accounts for both, one of the many reasons it’s the best format to resume: https://t.co/sv8YKmY5O0

kinda think they shd do some more regular season games just to shake the rust off

lag∞n, Tuesday, 26 May 2020 17:06 (three years ago) link

the first round should be enough to shake off the rust for the teams that matter.

the posturing that has clearly started w/this lillard quote is going to be extremely annoying so let's just cut it off right here imo.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 26 May 2020 17:15 (three years ago) link

theres a decently clean cut after 8th in both conferences right now, 5 games in east and 3 in west. just pull the trigger imo

the world cup format wld be more fun and if the season isnt a normal season already why not do something fun rather than trying to keep everything the same which just highlights the weirdness of it

the whole playoffs might not even be long enough! players are gonna be rustier than they ever have been out of shape etc its gonna be ugly

lag∞n, Tuesday, 26 May 2020 17:32 (three years ago) link

the simplest solution is to just say the standings are what they are, bring the 16 teams to orlando, have them quarantine, give them cross conference scrimmage match ups to get back up to game speed, and then start the playoffs as is

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 26 May 2020 18:25 (three years ago) link

the most recent windhorst podcast w/ tim bontemps on the disney thing is good... involving teams that have nothing to play for really makes no sense, and once you start pushing those teams out you might as well just say if you're not in the playoffs stay home. the only logical conclusion is that "fairness" is going to have to take a backseat to expediency & simplicity

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 26 May 2020 18:26 (three years ago) link

or something like a non elimination group stage format between the 16 teams to determine seeding could act as the “get up to speed” period before the “real” playoffs began
