GEZAN - 狂（KLUE）the best thing I've heard so far this year

So far the first song that gets into me is "Soul Material," mellow and not, esp. in translated lyrics (like early Shonen Knife, they treat English as this old found thing, to be reshaped to self-expression, itself and their selves, each renewed for a moment, toyed with in the best way). Track 7, right after that, is the scariest, except "Tired of Love" says it all in 47 seconds with no hurry, now that's scary, and then all the rest of the second half. Lots of frustration, punk implosion-implosion pulling bits of other genres and subgenres in and out, though also something idealistic, even sweet, though of course xtreme (the voices and some others know their Geddy Lee, and ultimately Brenda Lee, getting a little raunchy in the finale power ballad (not the Western kind), like:
Days of conflict and you scarred
The struggle will last for a little bit more

It would be shameful that someday we become not able to sing this song
Please kill me

You should be able to smile
Smile sincerely
Because you are born for it

so many many cry before that rainbow

Everything will be well beyond the nights
On inexplicable wonderful world
The wind blowing through the Koshu Highway, to the bygone days with confusion
Being happy It’s the Rebellion

No problem! Track 7 (Kunkoku) is def some of the wildest dub I've ever heard & I 100% agree that the somewhat abrupt shift from Soul Material's adroit J-pop to that track's nightmare mindfuck is one of the album's most bracing moments!

not even half way through and already know i'm gonna listen to this all year. love it.

Good to see something more concentrated from Gezan, I loved their ridiculous song 'School of Fuck' (video no longer on YT, which is a real shame) but found them to be hard to pin down and very patchy, this new one sounds great so far.
