yeah lol, i agree that it was a punk move on scottie's part, but i kinda resent the fact that this one thing is apparently the career-defining moment for him, not the decades' worth of deference and selfless play.

the huge fight in the second quarter from that clip is shrugged off as no big deal; if that happened in 2019/2020 it would've been a GARGANTUAN story

i guess i find the pippen thing pretty overplayed. it didn't affect the outcome of the game or the series. he apologized right after. he had an out of character moment like all of us have.

I was milling around the concourse at united center before a game during the Chris Duhon-Mike Sweetney Era and a side door opened right by me. Out comes Pippen wearing a Santa hat, pulling a huge wagon full of toys. Shocked, I say "Scottie!" and he extends a handshake. Totally enveloped my tiny girlish hands. He is one lanky dude. I remember having to crane my neck to look him in the eye (I'm 6'1").

worth noting that although it worked out phil's idea of running a play for kukoc probably scanned as insane at the time, he was a rookie who ranked 11th on the team in true shooting. if they wanted to run a play for a shooter there were a couple of guys named steve kerr and bj armstrong.

all through the 90s the NBA officiating, especially in the playoffs, allowed defenders to bang against, shove, muscle aside, hack, and occasionally outright mug offensive players. I hated that aspect of the era and I blame the Pat Riley Knicks as much as I blame the Bad Boy Pistons. To me that's not good hoops, and I'm much happier with the speedy, smooth, creative offensive flows of today's game.
