Isiah got to run two different NBA franchises and Bill Laimbeer had to settle for being an all-time great WNBA coach. I think that shows the gap in how much nba people hated them.

Basically, Isiah was a cheap and dirty player on a cheap and dirty team. He liked to start stuff for Laimbeer and Mahorn to finish. He liked taking cheap shots and throwing elbows.
As a Flyers' fan, it pains me to realize that the Detroit Pistons are basically the Broadstreet Bullies of the NBA and Isiah Thomas is their Bobby Clarke, a Hall of Fame talent obscured by his personality.
