yeah, even Parc (made for a Japanese radio station, first broadcast May 2008) is remixed from this live performance of Darc in July 2005. They may have never even tried to do a studio version per se, and almost certainly weren't still working on it by the time of recording Oblivion.

"born slippy .nuxx" has to be their only track that actually works better in 4 minute radio edit form

like the full-length studio version just kinda meanders around without any clear direction to go in once it's bored of the vocals + that transcendent synth riff and even in the live versions where they bring the the riff back in eventually that's better but it doesn't really feel earned?

oh i just realised the Eno/Hyde stuff is eligible i love those records but i'd have no idea how to rank anything from them against underworld material

I'm embarking on a listen-through now, roughly drawing the line at no later-released variant mixes & no solo stuff / collaborations, however "no live" is a step too far, Everything Everything needs to be in there, and...? Is there anything obvious I'm missing out with this approach? Also I will absolutely be putting Doot-Doot in my top 10, sorry, unavoidable.

If you're nerdy enough to list 20 tracks at all, you unlock the power-up of listing multiple versions. If you really want to, you can then have your entire top eight be tracks that at some point were released on a CD with the words "Dark & Long" on the spine.

i think it's appropriate they're distinct... if nothing else, they were both singles. Just when I think of what the real big ones are among fans, J/K/TDOL and Cowgirl/Rez are right at the top.

I dropped this track (respect to underworld) in summer 1994 san fernando california, at a warehouse event. .. shit was underground back then thanx.....

Not sure how anyone can possibly vote for less than 20 tracks.

I'll be doing the full 77 and already think there'll be some tough choices about what i want to leave out
