ANIMAL CROSSING: NEW HORIZONS

Its a game of long er... game. You pick it up and poke at it here and there each day or even few days. but the idea is to keep at it over a whole year so you get all the seasons, festivals, etc. It isnt a rush to the goal game.

i am pretty sure kk is the roll credits endgame so from here on in its more of a tamigotchi for me

I’m enjoying checking in about 45 minutes every day to do various things, make a few thousand bells, and eventually put it towards nice infrastructure

trayce: yeah, i think i’ve been going a bit hard with the grind and it’s become monotonous

tomboto: i’ve just started doing that too, ticking off the basic daily stuff (plant a money tree, build a new bridge/incline, use the nook terminal)

it’s easier to enjoy in small doses since I’m not the main player on the island and therefore don’t have Nook giving me a bunch of extra tasks like all that campsite fuss

What I love about it: do the things & get the things - whack trees/get wood chunks, whack rocks/get...stuff - but also the tiny bits of unpredictability: wasps' nests, fossils, random campers, visitors, and turnip prices. The attention to detail in the museum. I could sit in the butterfly room for many long minutes happily. I can fish for so long just watching the water. But it's 30 min in the morning and maybe an hour in the evening and that's plenty.

Yeah the little details are tremendous. When its raining you can see rain hitting the outside of the windows when inside. Fans make plants move. Ive noticed some days are much windier than others.

For me too, the new part I am enjoying (as someone who's played AC on and off for like 15 years, yikes) is being able to remake/remodel the whole town!

do you have to do a thing to trigger the turnip lady showing up on Sundays? Cause the Nook boys have their whole turnip spiel and refuse to talk about them on Sundays but I haven't seen the lady who actually sells them yet?

Kinda lame she’s only there for like a four hour stretch on Sundays. Why not all day? Didn’t have time to check in the other morning and missed out.

I didnt know that, Ive always seen her but I do play before midday i guess.

I like pottering about on my island making alterations, trying out new ideas, seeing what crazy stuff my villagers will come up w today. it's more of a vibe than a game for me really - just a chill place to hang out and decompress on the couch while watching TV

I got inordinately excited when I found a wild blue wildflower in the highlands this morning.

on island I have: picnic spot; zen/baths area; windfarm; pool area; residential area w/adjacent campsite; retail area w/little market; allotment area (turnip storage)

in house I have: living room; kitchen; bathroom; japanese themed room

what are other ideas

i still have an easter themed room. need to phase that out.

I’m planning on doing a tourist trap island / terra cotta excavation with 1000 Tom Nook statues arranged in rows

all i have is an anatomical skeleton model at the foot of my bed

My partner and her sister have created a Japanese garden. also a meditation labyrinth which was my idea ^_^

i have covered about a sixth of the space in flowers, would like to expand that. it's a butterfly paradise!

I regret not going in knowinng we'd have this level of design control - I scattered my homes all over the map and some people have them in neat rows like a suburb. It seems pricey to relocate anything.

Ugh. I mean as someone who only manages to play this maybe 30 mins a day and who isn’t time travelling or chasing crazy turnip prices on reddit or doing any of the other exploits Nintendo seem to be getting pissy about, moves like this make me reluctant to carry on picking it up at all. Making my game slower and more grindy because someone else got rich faster than you wanted them to is such a weird bullshit way to treat your core users.

I guess I’m not too worried about it because you can make enough bells to the point of bells being almost meaningless through the turnip/Reddit axis, but yeah, can understand it being annoying for a casual player not wanting to deal with that.

My turnip prices completely tanked this week. I'm not cut out to be some high risk turnip trader.
