There's a very famous actress who's starred on a TV show, been in movies, written books... and I can not remember her name. I can sure as hell remember her character's name, but not her IRL name.

I can see her face, hear her voice, name all of the other actors she's done work with. I can even see the book cover in my mind, but I can not for the life of me remember her name.

I could google the answer in four seconds, but I'd really, really like to figure this one out on my own.

I couldn’t remember Aaron Paul’s name in a pub quiz. All I could come up with was “it’s two first names... one of them might be Brian?”

I swear I picked up biscuits at the store during my first visit there in a week. I even remember scanning them because the bar code was partially hidden by a seam in the packaging. So where are they now?

This is not the first time this has happened.

I went a week of trying to remember the actress' name on my own, but finally had to confess to my wife what was happening.

She acted her name out in Charades and when it finally hit me, it felt like one of my brain lobes folded open, like turning to the M's in an oversized dictionary on display in a bookstore.

I did the leave some shopping behind thing too, only I didnt even scan in the item I left there, and it was the most important one! (a bottle of "special sauce" style mayo for burgers I was making).

I was reading a book and a character was thinking back on the war. Which roughly led me through the following thoughts: 1) which war? (the book was written in 1961); 2) probably the Korean War; 3) which war was Catch-22? 4) I know MASH was the Korean War; 4) was anyone except Radar in both the movie and the show? 5) who was first, Harry Morgan or McLean Stevenson? 6) Stevenson, of course; 7) they tried to make him a big star with Hello, Larry, failed miserably.

I didn't have to fumble around for even a second for the name of Hello, Larry, it was right there. Root causes: this why I sometimes putter around for 10 minutes looking for my car keys.

Yesterday I prepped our drip filter for morning coffee same as always

But instead of normal human behaviour I dumped half of the fresh coffee grounds into the empty water reservoir instead of the filter basket

And spent a good while afterwards getting the grounds out of the reservoir
