This game is nice but people were talking about it in the same ... sentence ... as Zelda and I think that's misleading. Planning to sue.

yeah, i know what you mean. they are often compared to each other in terms of just overall quality/fun, and although i like odyssey a lot it's not on the same level as BotW

100% agreed, but if you own a Switch this should be the second game you buy for sure

there's enough good switch games now that i wouldn't try to call anything an essential. two years ago it would have been more accurate

like animal crossing and smash are gonna be easily more essential than both of those for various sects of people

ok, Smash I'll give because it is like the ur-version of all Smashes combined
Animal Crossing seems pretty incremental compared to older versions, but i haven't looked too deep into the new version

feel like it only dawned on me how big this game is once i started to track down 500 moons

only true nintendo heads can collect all the moons and all the korok seeds

the cap jump is so crucial

the cap is the best mario mechanic they should never make another mario with cappy

also the seamlessness of the camera control kinda makes the other mario unplayable

i hope they are making odyssey 2

odyssey is kind of funny its very easy "to win" but doesnt really become awesome until you are pretty good at it

i need to go back to odyssey and try to poopsock the remaining moons. i didn't spend enough time with it, the first time around, because it was my first switch game and i was itching to get into breath of the wild.

but i don't think any mario mechanic can top the raccoon suit

yeah, i never got very good at that either.

what if they mapped the super cool cap jump mechanic to a button? for example, the A button

guys just go to metro or sand kingdom and run around practicing the cap jump and then combos including the cap jump, its not that hard once you figure it out, at first i was def spazzing and trying to time the button pressing when really you can just hold them down and its chill

its like a different game once you get it down, theres so much stuff you can just cap jump over onto etc, the mechanics of the game are so good and satisfying the better you get at them

jump, throw the cap, z button to start the dive, then hold down jump until you jump off the cap, and thats it

you can also jump after rather than before the throw, and you can do all diff jumps the pound jump and so forth to start it, and once you jump off the cap you can do another dive or whatever, you go a lil further/higher if you throw the cap a second time then dive

maybe the slickest combo is throwing the cap, rolling into it which does this jump that pops you up pretty high, then do a cap jump

I assume Mario yells out something extremely pleasing when you do that last move

i felt great whenever I did those cap jumps, almost always by accident

if youre wearing the metal mario outfit the cap makes a nice clunk when u jump off it

i'm still taking the fact that they never made a dlc level or two for this game even though its a perfect candidate for it as proof that they're making a 2

they announced 2 a while back iirc
