I love how even then she's polite and open and funny in her personal response to the question "jk I'm open to it but kinda busy rn"
i think older folks underestimate the degree to which she is relatable to young people, compared to like, chuck grassley or all the ancient democrats. i would guess that people think "AOC is about 10x more relatable". no, incorrect. she is at least 4 trillion times more relatable. it's like they're on different planets

I watched that AOC TikTok last night on the home computer, and the 10-year-old rushed in, going "Are you watching Tik-Tox!"
Then he made replay it like ten times.

Inevitable:
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) told Politico Playbook on Wednesday that her team and former Vice President Joe Biden's campaign are having "policy conversations," and a source familiar told Axios that AOC and Biden have not yet spoken directly.

what's inevitable? AOC figuring out how to get biden to accommodate the future of the party, rather than the part of it he led 20-30 years ago? or a bunch of AOC supporters feeling that she betrayed the cause?

She could use a few more years of learning the ropes, especially the insider workings of Congress and the DoD and DoS. But I'd be happy to vote for her for president while she's still in her 30s, at an age when she would still view strategy and compromise as entirely subordinate to her larger vision, instead of as an endless series of small wrestling matches about minimal gains.
For perspective, MLK, Jr. was 27 when he was chosen to lead the Montgomery bus boycott and only 39 when he died. Thomas Jefferson was 33 when he was chosen as lead writer of the Declaration of Independence.

I wasn't sure where to drop this interview b/w Michael Grunewald and Sean McElwee..
― TikTok to the (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 21 April 2020 21:12 (four years ago) link
One radical thought dropped in that interview:
Look, the Democratic Party is a coalition party with five partners: African American groups, Latino groups, women’s groups, unions and progressive groups. If you’re only one of five factions, maybe one-fourth of the party, you should only expect to win about one-fourth or one-fifth of the victories. You need to work with other groups in the coalition to achieve political success. Sometimes you’ll win, sometimes you’ll lose, that’s how life works. Ocasio-Cortez has figured that out, but not all progressives have.

I would guess that Trump thinks a Senator AOC (D - NY) would make a fabulous fundraising tool for focusing right wing fear and loathing. He badly misses Hillary "Lock Her Up" Clinton, because Pelosi just doesn't generate the same passionate hatred that he can use to juice up his base. He understands his base very well, but he underestimates AOC.

I never spoke to Rep. Yoho before he decided to accost me on the steps of the nation’s Capitol yesterday.Believe it or not, I usually get along fine w/ my GOP colleagues. We know how to check our legislative sparring at the committee door. But hey, “b*tches” get stuff done. 🤷🏽♀️ https://t.co/WlG3xccwR7— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) July 21, 2020
Yoho’s derogatory comments, overheard by a reporter for The Hill, followed an altercation on the Capitol steps Monday in which the GOP congressman reportedly said that Ocasio-Cortez was “disgusting” for her stance on issues of crime and policing.“You are out of your freaking mind,” Yoho told the Democratic lawmaker for recently suggesting that poverty and unemployment are driving a spike in crime in New York City during the coronavirus pandemic.Ocasio-Cortez responded by saying that Yoho was being “rude.”After parting ways, Ocasio-Cortez headed into the building, while Yoho, joined by Rep. Roger Williams (R-TX), descended toward the House office buildings. A few steps down, Yoho was heard by the reporter uttering the words, “Fucking bitch.”

On February 26, 2020, Ted Yoho voted against making lynching a federal hate crime. He stated that he believed it was an “overreach of the federal government and tramples on states' rights to make their own legislation on the subject.”
