hey we found someone who bought one of john's books of poetry!

I think it's a little too simplistic to call them the greatest band of all time. It's worth noting, for example, that they are the greatest band of all space, as well. Show me a band in the universe that is a better band and I'll tell you to shut the fuck up because you are wrong and should shut up.

Unparalleled Elegance (Old Lunch), Monday, 23 March 2020 20:26 (four years ago) link

I don't think anybody who thinks a better band has ever existed is wrong, I think they're obviously lying and pretending to like something else just to look cool and hard

All these are great (I Remembered How to Fly and It's Actually Really Easy was an amazing comeback album) but Gary is ahead of its time. I think modern music is still trying to catch up with it. Also Jean-Paul was probably the greatest one-man songwriting team of our era, the best songwriter since Roger Hammerstein.

BLU SAPHIR, BUT WHY (Tom Violence), Tuesday, 24 March 2020 11:48 (four years ago) link

I'll never understand why they changed their name early on. Turd Wizard and the Futiliteens would've been even bigger superstars imo.

Can't imagine this band without Anthony Braxton's son on vocals tbh.

Is this poll like one of those Beatles trick questions where if you don't publicly declare all of it is the greatest music ever you get waterboarded?

chr1sb3singer, Tuesday, 24 March 2020 13:57 (four years ago) link

It can't be a trick question if you clearly know the answer.

Unparalleled Elegance (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 24 March 2020 14:06 (four years ago) link

Waterboarding's not that bad, and the magnanimous Beetle Gods know it.

coco vide (pomenitul), Tuesday, 24 March 2020 14:11 (four years ago) link

I feel like they summed up their stance pretty well in the hit single 'Torture Isn't Torture (If You Don't Torch Her)'.

Unparalleled Elegance (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 24 March 2020 14:21 (four years ago) link

Their viewpoint is not my own but it's obvious to me that the Fabulous Foursome were very pro-'enhanced interrogation'.
