Nikki was sobbing so hard partially because of relief and partially because she didn't feel like she sang better than R.J. I think she's a little too tender-hearted for this competition, actually. Still, I love her look and her on-stage charisma is overwhelming. If Justin doesn't stop fucking around, she could very well knock him out of the competition next week.

I haven't watched any of it, but my town of Amory is having a "local boy makes good" moment – Trent Harmon, one of the contestants who advanced tonight without having to qualify, is from here. He's 3 or so years younger than my daughter – he played the lead in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (as a freshman) and she was in the production as one of the brothers' wives. Apparently he's, like, really talented.

I watched my first full episode in like forever last night. Holy crap, can we just crown La'Porsha now? This was amazing.

Welp, the local guy won it. There was a big watching party downtown in the park and I could hear the roar from my house when his name was announced.

I didn't watch any of this season (really I'd only seen a few La'Porsha clips here and there). Trent seems like an ok guy, decent voice, traditional Idol-victor type. Hopefully, La'Porsha has a multi decade career tho. She was the truth and the light.

I didn't watch any of it until the winner announcement tonight but yeah, I would have been happy with La'Porsha winning – maybe happier. I know my daughter was actively rooting for her.
