It did feel like a Tipping Point. Talking to Strangers you got the idea that everyone thought China and Italy were Outliers. Gobert finally made them Blink.

thankful for the nba's/silver's swift and decisive action. set a precedent the other less progressive leagues (*ahem* ncaa) needed to follow.

they did let the warriors play two games at oracle with a sign posted saying that attending the game could increase your risk of contracting coronavirus, and they did have owners ready to defy local gov't recommendations until a player literally tested positive right before tipoff.

yeah the NBA was pretty delinquent. not as bad as the college conferences but still pretty bad... it was very weird watching the end of the heat-hornets game knowing that the okc-jazz game had just been emergency canceled over a player related virus scare. and by some stroke of luck or power they were just able to get gobert tested before the game or else he was going to play, which would’ve been a huge disaster... to say nothing of the fact that he definitely played while being infected but asymptomatic

fair enough. im not sure a player testing positive would've convinced the nfl to cancel the season, tbh.

In retrospect the idea of continuing the season was always insane. At some point a player was going to get sick and it’s a sport with a ton of personal contact.

and yeah of course the nba prioritized profit first, but they did go first and honestly acted pretty quickly after the positive test. any other league would have waited until at least the next day to poll all the owners

one thing ive been thinking for a while is that gobert is taller than his listed height of 7-1 he looks at least 7-3
