giannis had a crazy weak game did the heat do anything special on D

― lag∞n, Tuesday, March 3, 2020 10:24 AM (one hour ago) bookmarkflaglink

he was kind of out of it but the heat have stuck bad games on him before by adopting a strategy of walling him off from the basket at all costs. there were tons of possessions last night where he was surrounded by 3-4 guys in the paint and either passed or forced up shots. there were also open jumpers and stuff he just flat missed that will go in on other nights. and as i posted last night i think bam might be the single best defender on giannis of any team in the east but it was def a team effort.

it was probably a preview of what the playoffs are going to look like for the bucks. the math on the game was actually kind of crazy... the heat made 18 threes to the bucks 7, a difference of 33 points but the heat only won by 16. it's basically impossible to score on the bucks at the basket, and in games where middelton and others are hitting threes they're just going to be really tough to beat. but there are going to be games (like last night) where teams execute the game plan on giannis well and middleton, wes matthews, bledsoe, george hill, divencenzo etc are gonna have to make threes.

Somehow the 9-person Dubs squad with no Steph, Klay, Draymond or Looney just beat the Nugs at home.

lonzo ball's shot looking like a million times better. it's not ever going to be amazing but his current form is working.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 5 March 2020 03:14 (four years ago) link

37% on 6+ attempts per game is good. Kinda bad he’s 40% overall tho.

Thybulle on the Dash (Spottie), Thursday, 5 March 2020 03:25 (four years ago) link

happy for him, he looks awesome tonight

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 March 2020 04:07 (four years ago) link

with his passing and rebounding combined w/ the way the game is played nowadays if he can hit 37% of his threes it prob doesn't matter if he can score inside the arch or not

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 March 2020 04:08 (four years ago) link

these versions of ingram and lonzo paired w/ zion actually feels like it could be something longterm

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 March 2020 04:10 (four years ago) link

7/9 threes tonight for zo

what a doofus

ESPN Sources: NBA has fined Mark Cuban $500K -- and rejected the Dallas Mavericks petition to replay the final seconds of a Feb. 22 loss to Atlanta. Cuban assailed league’s officiating leadership and system in a tirade — and twice went on court in final minutes to confront refs.

J0rdan S., Friday, 6 March 2020 22:38 (four years ago) link

Robinson ranks in the 93rd percentile off spot-ups
He ranks in the 96th percentile off hand-offs
He ranks in the 93rd percentile in transition
He ranks in the 98th percentile off cuts
He ranks in the 84th percentile on “guarded” catch-and-shoot attempts and in the 96th percentile on unguarded attempts

All this for a player who averages 1.1 field-goal attempts from two-point range per game. The NBA has seen a lot of great shooting specialists come through the ranks over the last two decades, but none of them have ever been quite as good at it as Robinson already is.
