sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Sunday, 1 March 2020 16:14 (four years ago) link

better than eleven cunts i could name

BSC Joan Baez (darraghmac), Sunday, 1 March 2020 16:15 (four years ago) link

idk what VAR is seeing in the Everton winner that was chalked off that the ref couldnโ€™t.

i think a player sitting in the six-yard box might just be interfering with play a tiny bit

Number None, Sunday, 1 March 2020 22:38 (four years ago) link

Lol Adama for the second goal, like a tank with a jet engine

Dunty Reggae party ๐ŸŽ‰ (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 1 March 2020 22:43 (four years ago) link

Xp, itโ€™s not as though the ref and linesman missed him. It just looks like the subjective opinion of the VAR referee overruled the subjective opinion of the on-field officials as to whether he was interfering or not, but idk.

ShariVari, Sunday, 1 March 2020 22:48 (four years ago) link

Yeah, one of the stupidest features of the current implementation.

Lol at Raul killing Tanganga for the third.

Dunty Reggae party ๐ŸŽ‰ (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 1 March 2020 22:54 (four years ago) link

imagine he's standing up in that position and he dummies the ball - would you consider it offside then?

it seems absurdly obvious to me, but I think the rules about interference are too soft if anything

Number None, Sunday, 1 March 2020 22:55 (four years ago) link

i just happened to be distracted and looked up when Raul had he ball, cut in, dribbled and fired.

was so pleased to see what a brilliant pass had set it up on the replay.

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Sunday, 1 March 2020 22:59 (four years ago) link

i look brilliant when im playing against idiots

Absolutely bang on. The most recent rewrite of the offside law makes what counts as interfering with the game far too lenient. Siggurdsson was obviously "interfering" with the game in an actual sense of the word, but he wasn't obscuring De Gea's vision, movement, or motion to kick the ball or kick the ball. The law as written doesn't account for De Gea's thought process, and let's be honest, he was never saving it anyway.

Then you get to how the decision was made. Who called it? I heard Sounness say something like "if he had to get out of the way of the ball, he's interfering with play" but there's been goals given like that this season where a striker has to jump out of the way of his own player's shot in an offside position (I think it was Sterling) โ€” albeit with the goalkeeper entirely out of the picture.

Todayโ€™s the 30th anniversary of The Greatest Goal Of The 90s.

Forget Bergkamp, Yeboah, and Di Canio. Instead I give you Gary Crosby for Forest vs City.

Alexei considers the roots of his rage and resentment, explores the dangers of magical thinking and contemplates what the philosophies of Bertholt Brecht could offer Premier League football.

very funny ep of Alexi Sayle's imaginery sandwich bar is this and includes an Eric Dier joke to make it Ilx friendly.

calzino, Wednesday, 4 March 2020 11:55 (four years ago) link

The Secret Footballer is opining that the reason Troy Parrott isn't getting a game is because Spurs are nervous about his links to a notorious Dublin crime family, which is a lot more fun than the likely truth, which is that he just isn't good enough yet.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 4 March 2020 14:23 (four years ago) link

It beggars belief that Kitson is somehow still in the know, he must have a good spy network!

calzino, Wednesday, 4 March 2020 14:28 (four years ago) link

He probably isn't good enough but I think we should factor in Mou's hatred of young people too

Dunty Reggae party ๐ŸŽ‰ (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 4 March 2020 14:31 (four years ago) link

uh

i thought id posted about the above, apologies if not

if spurs *arent* deeply worried by parrotts very close links to the parties involved then they absolutely should be.

i would think its definitely a factor

BSC Joan Baez (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 March 2020 14:33 (four years ago) link

all being well it'll turn out to be a maradona at napoli scenario, you'd take a couple of league titles surely?

oscar bravo, Wednesday, 4 March 2020 14:38 (four years ago) link

yeah probably tbf

BSC Joan Baez (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 March 2020 14:40 (four years ago) link

Rumours that Kane might be leaving in the Summer

groovypanda, Wednesday, 4 March 2020 14:49 (four years ago) link

meh, same speculation as every year

and tbh seeing as buying a striker to challenge him seems an untouchable topic, his seasonal two month injuries are really becoming a major issue

if a huge fee was spent on two replacements and we just started a proper rebuild i could take it

BSC Joan Baez (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 March 2020 15:07 (four years ago) link

Think Spurs'd do good to sell off Kane and restructure the squad, to not be so dependent on him, rather sooner than later. There is the small disadvantage of having Mou as manager, though.

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 4 March 2020 15:10 (four years ago) link

who's even still left from the gareth bale money buys. lamela?

oscar bravo, Wednesday, 4 March 2020 15:12 (four years ago) link

god i'd forgotten about chiriches

oscar bravo, Wednesday, 4 March 2020 15:14 (four years ago) link

yep, the last of the fellowship

BSC Joan Baez (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 March 2020 15:14 (four years ago) link

mou might have quite liked capoue

oscar bravo, Wednesday, 4 March 2020 15:15 (four years ago) link

lamela clearly never going to be able to play a full season himself ever again an all

thought stambouli and capoue were jettisoned v quickly tbh

BSC Joan Baez (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 March 2020 15:15 (four years ago) link

No decent CF wants to come to Spurs because they know they'll be playing second fiddle to Kane, which is why we have a surplus of wide forwards who can play there in a squeeze. Should have re-signed Llorente when we had the chance frankly but the wheels are going to fall off Kane every spring if we don't ease the burden on him.

So yeah, selling him for gigantic money might be a decent course of action.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 4 March 2020 15:56 (four years ago) link

has there ever been a definite answer as to whether kane himself would take a huff to having serious competition, cover etc?

id think it a possible factor tbh

BSC Joan Baez (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 March 2020 15:58 (four years ago) link

If we don't get some comedy covid-referencing goal celebrations this weekend then you know the game is gone

Dunty Reggae party ๐ŸŽ‰ (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 7 March 2020 13:02 (four years ago) link

a player feigns coughing in a teammates face then mimes stealing teammates wallet whilst they pretend to die on the deck? might be a bit much for a footballer to rehearse!

calzino, Saturday, 7 March 2020 13:09 (four years ago) link

Could have signed Piatek in the winter. idk why they didnโ€™t get someone like Ighalo in on loan if they werenโ€™t willing to spend much.

ShariVari, Saturday, 7 March 2020 13:11 (four years ago) link

no Traore today. but that's ok, Jota's gonna score 3.

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Saturday, 7 March 2020 15:04 (four years ago) link

the uhhh speed differential is quite striking lol.

Raul might have a field day with these defenders

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Saturday, 7 March 2020 15:09 (four years ago) link

Ighalo is actually looking like a pretty shrewd signing for Utd

to my surprise

Number None, Saturday, 7 March 2020 15:23 (four years ago) link

Traore's shoulder's been dislocated 3 or 4 times this season now, I think they're trying to nurse him thru to the summer for an operation.

Dunty Reggae party ๐ŸŽ‰ (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 7 March 2020 15:27 (four years ago) link

makes sense. takes a beating every game

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Saturday, 7 March 2020 15:28 (four years ago) link

I can see why Brighton are close to relegation

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Saturday, 7 March 2020 15:34 (four years ago) link

Jesus Boly. that was almost bad

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Saturday, 7 March 2020 15:37 (four years ago) link

In the pub so I can only follow the updates

Dunty Reggae party ๐ŸŽ‰ (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 7 March 2020 15:44 (four years ago) link

not much to report in first half anyway.

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Saturday, 7 March 2020 15:45 (four years ago) link

Traore in for Neves. don't think Nuno wanted to, but the need for 3 probably forced his hand. Wolves haven't particularly been close to a goal.

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Saturday, 7 March 2020 16:22 (four years ago) link

Yeah I assumed they'd have to get him on. Weird swap for Ruben but we've got Olympiakos this week coming up

Dunty Reggae party ๐ŸŽ‰ (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 7 March 2020 16:30 (four years ago) link

POdence in. maybe he can find the goal.

Traore has helped...but a 0-0 draw would be a bad result here. ugh...c'mon!

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Saturday, 7 March 2020 16:30 (four years ago) link

Plenty of time...i'm telling myself

Dunty Reggae party ๐ŸŽ‰ (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 7 March 2020 16:31 (four years ago) link

that's a little more like it. nice positioning by Jimenez and Podence. little more of that and you got it.

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Saturday, 7 March 2020 16:34 (four years ago) link

dammit Donk. gotta nail that
