Barbara, Jerichow and another about to expire from Criterion, I think.

Gespenster is the best

I've seen 6 of the features; the four (beginning w/ Jerichow) that are well known globally, plus Yella and Wolfsburg. No bad ones there; I think Barbara and Transit are best.

I've seen the last three and loved each successive one a little more

Really like Barbara, but then again I’m a sucker for Ostalgie.

Phoenix I care for least because Vertigo politics bore me

Phoenix will be the only left on Criterion tomorrow.

Something really special about Barbara. Love the pace of it. Reminds me of some of those slow and steady Martin Beck novels.

one year passes...

Watched Undine last night. It was good. The magic-realist elements were an interesting move away from Petzold's (deceptive) naturalism, but I thought were integrated fairly well. Reminded me tone-wise a bit of Apichatpong Weerasethakul, in integrating the fantastical with the matter-of-fact world. My favorites of his are still Phoenix and Transit, although I haven't seen Barbara.

The only one I’ve seen is “The State I Am In”.

I went to the movies to watch Transit and somehow missed one crucial detail and thereafter didn't have a single clue what was happening :) I still liked it though. I adore Franz Rogowski.

I should re-watch Undine, which I htought his only disaster .

Seems like Gespenster/Ghosts is not available at all for streaming as far as I can see, although most others are.

Hmm, haven’t seen Yella yet.

Really liked Yella, plan to watch The State I’m In before it leaves MUBI.

Something really touching about the fact that Jeanne is often seen wearing a shirt that says Diego Maradonna in The State I Am In.
