I think both movies are good in different ways, the French one is sexier, while the Minghella one is more sociological. Plein soleil suffers from the forced "moral" ending though, which the newer one obviously doesn't have.

aye some bits of it didn't age well, but overall and I suppose aesthetically it is much more of an indelibly cool movie in my memory!
