It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

This season started out weak but it turned around after episode 2, and in fact the vast majority of the remaining 8 episodes were strong, imo. Some stuff that actually made me laugh. And indeed, tons more recognizable song cues over the rest of the season, plus an impressive amount of Danny DeVito slobber.

I watched the first ep of the latest season and found it tired and slightly embarrassing. Time to stop.

This most recent season gets better.

The Janitor Always Mops Twice is classic

I liked that one, the texting one, and Dee Day best, iirc. Oh, and the Gang Chokes, there's some funny stuff in there, too. And Global Warming, that was good as well.

Apparently several episodes pulled from circulation for featuring blackface or similar, which I suppose I needn’t dwell on at length but it seems sorta hamfisted given that Dennis being a (boobishly hapless) sexual predator continues to fly, not to mention episodes where the T-slur is slung around in reference to a trans woman (played by a presumably cis actress) without being textually called out at all as a stupid thing to say. I mean it’s a show about characters being terrible people. Idk. Guess I’ll have to find my pirate copy of the Lethal Weapon 5 episode if I want to see it again.

i'm currently re-watching it's always sunny with my gf who's never seen it. we're kinda binging it but the relentless screaming and cross-talk stresses us out so we've been alternating with taxi every couple seasons. really nice mix

My wife and I have had some big fights over this show. I think it is hysterically funny at times; she was so disturbed when Mac suddenly gained weight it ruined the show for her.

New season Dec. 1:

It’s Always Sunny was ahead of the curve in showing how the gang would handle being in isolation while sick, airing the episode “The Gang Gets Quarantined” in 2013 during its ninth season. Now, there’s confirmation that the upcoming season will actually be set during the COVID pandemic.

The press release teases that the gang will “try to exploit pandemic aid, sidestep cancel culture, evade criminal justice, reflect on their origins, and reconcile their identities and homeland roots.” Oh and yeah, the gang somehow ends up in Ireland despite the global pandemic.

First few episodes were kinda bad, but I liked the monkey bartender one and all the stuff in Ireland. Noticed that for such a simple show they've really upped the budget. Travel to Ireland, music licenses for the Stones and Springsteen, digital effects ...

Season was better than fine but very forgettable very fast
kudos for not pretending covid didn't exist and acknowledging that the gang would all have covid for sure

They have all been solid, but I really liked ‘The Gang Gets Cursed’. Rhea Pearlman was nice to see as Dee’s neighbor.

catching up on the last few seasons I missed, was worried this show'd gone downhill after S12 (or whichever one Dennis was missing for half of), but it recovered and is just as good as ever I think

second half of S15 (the Ireland episodes) were particularly good. the emotional bit at the end with Charlie actually got to me a little. I love how once or twice a season there will be some unexpectedly great acting. Dennis's psycho shit was legitimately unnerving too. only issue I had with it is there is no fucking way Charlie would have had a passport
