Lana del Rey supposedly wrote “24” as an audition song for Spectre.

Considering what came before it this is a very competent song for a Bond intro but it’s the sort of orchestral somber ballad that’s been done way too many times in the franchise. I thought Billie Eilish would be a perfect fit to revitalize what a Bond theme could be but this is way too safe. Feels like a lesser Skyfall tbh.

I don’t really hear the XX? Maybe Zero7 or some other chillout/downtempo act from the early 00s.

I thought of the xx because of the barely-there instrumental substratum in the first half and her voice's mild R&B inflections. I can hear echoes of Zero 7 as well, maybe even a bit of Radiohead.

Yeah I got strong turn of the millennium trip-hop/downtempo vibes from this. Like Esthero.

Not hating the production is great and she’s a very competent singer but as a song it’s very non-descript ripe for some cafe del mar compilation.
