Re: Dawn Richard, Blackheart is sounding pretty good so far.

fixed in that list, thanks for the edit note... and for the pronunciation!
Iss-peety-peety, yeah?

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Friday, 7 February 2020 18:23 (four years ago) link

My takeaway from the Jenny Hval album is that I would maybe enjoy a Jenny Hval instrumental album

imago, Monday, 10 February 2020 13:44 (four years ago) link

Full version of BASQUIAT massively superior to the edit that made the tracks poll

imago, Monday, 10 February 2020 18:42 (four years ago) link

Is there any poll that you could vote for that in, imago?

Oor Neechy, Monday, 10 February 2020 18:43 (four years ago) link

Jamila Woods?

imago, Monday, 10 February 2020 18:45 (four years ago) link

Not is v much the only EOY representation Two Hands required. Talk about an album with a highlight

imago, Monday, 10 February 2020 21:18 (four years ago) link

"shoulders," "the toy" > "not"

american bradass (BradNelson), Monday, 10 February 2020 21:22 (four years ago) link

Lol fine.

I liked the Woods album! Good #1 choice

imago, Monday, 10 February 2020 21:26 (four years ago) link

it's not "the ASDA"

― dogs,

who let the dogs in?

saer, Monday, 10 February 2020 21:27 (four years ago) link

Not is maybe my fourth, fifth favourite song on Two Hands

doorstep jetski (dog latin), Monday, 10 February 2020 21:36 (four years ago) link

I mean, it's good and that, but I get the impression it stands out because it's their most hard-rockingest song since the Capacity album after the relatively sedate UFOF record. guitar solo is cool but I've heard guitar solos before and will again

doorstep jetski (dog latin), Monday, 10 February 2020 21:37 (four years ago) link

The dog let himself in apparently

breastcrawl, Monday, 10 February 2020 21:39 (four years ago) link

that's a pretty accurate ranking. though i wouldn't call it a song. it's more like two separate parts which are in themselves no songs and together neither. it's not called not for nothing.

walking towards the sun since 2007 (alex in mainhattan), Monday, 10 February 2020 21:39 (four years ago) link

Maybe I expected (and wanted) a whole album like that

imago, Monday, 10 February 2020 21:40 (four years ago) link

i think not is a far-and-away highlight, but mainly because of live versions, which are almost unbearably intense.

ooga booga-ing for the bourgeoisie (voodoo chili), Monday, 10 February 2020 21:43 (four years ago) link

ah there's me thinking Not was a song. things are so very confusing these days

doorstep jetski (dog latin), Monday, 10 February 2020 21:55 (four years ago) link

Fooled by that old verse-chorus structure

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Monday, 10 February 2020 21:57 (four years ago) link

Full version of BASQUIAT massively superior to the edit that made the tracks poll

what? i don't think there was a singles edit of this ever released?

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Monday, 10 February 2020 22:05 (four years ago) link

pretty sure there wasn’t, the YouTube link in the rollout linked to the full length video.

breastcrawl, Monday, 10 February 2020 22:56 (four years ago) link

full-length *track

breastcrawl, Monday, 10 February 2020 23:16 (four years ago) link

lol

maybe I just liked it way more this time and never noticed it was 7 minutes long

oops

imago, Tuesday, 11 February 2020 00:43 (four years ago) link

I've had the albums list playing on shuffle a lot since the rollout ended, and it's pretty much non-stop good vibes. It makes a strangely consistent listening experience despite the variety of the list itself. The only things I can't completely go with are the couple of country records, and that's very much my own personal biases at play.
