I did wonder when I saw Celtic's statement today, particularly the bit about Morelos being owed an apology by Sky, why the Ibrox PR machine were being so reticent and why it seemed incumbent on Celtic to seek justice for Morelos. And now I know. What a mess.

that spell at wolves alongside his first spell at rangers were surely the best of his career, which was definitely at least journeymanesque

second spell at rangers i should say

frederik b. godt (jim in vancouver), Friday, 7 February 2020 00:26 (four years ago) link

that seems entirely believable

aye, very sad about jackie mac. he's ten years older than me and moved to celtic when i was about 12, so a favourite of mine in the squad during my youth. apparently he regained consciousness and was talking etc. so fingers-crossed for a good recovery.

in less important news rangers lost 2-1 to killie away and the celts hammered hearts 5-0 lol

frederik b. godt (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 12 February 2020 21:45 (four years ago) link

Rangers lost to Killie 2-1, courtesy of an 88th minute goal scored by a guy called... Eamonn Brophy. Poor old Teddy Bears, that's got to smart.

having a wee trawl on the rangers forums the now. they've either turned on gerrard or it's all the referees and the sfa's fault.

christ, a weird midweek.

rangers can't stop dropping points to folk in the bottom half of the league. losing to accies at home is madness.

frederik b. godt (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 4 March 2020 22:50 (four years ago) link

They've lost their last two games to the bottom team in the table... which must be some kind of record for Rangers.

If you don’t know how the Nations League works... Scotland put out Israel last season and were rewarded with a playoff against Israel. They then got promoted to a higher league and got drawn against Israel 🧐

SPFL voting to call every league except the Prem is a new level of Don't Upset Ra Peepul bullshit.
If it's OK to call Dundee United champions it's OK to do the same for Celtic.

It'll be interesting if league expansion is dangled to protect Hearts - incentivising them to call it for Celtic.

apparently dons and hearts are going to vote against. rangers obviously will too. how many voting against is required/

sea apparently awaiting word from UEFA also?

COVID and the Gang (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 9 April 2020 18:56 (four years ago) link

oops, brain far. wonder how many voting against would mean that the season is just abandoned. could see it happening

COVID and the Gang (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 9 April 2020 18:56 (four years ago) link

If it's abandoned there's no prize money and a whole bunch of awkward questions about refunds and sponsorship of non events. The season either needs to be called or played out post-lockdown.

It's hysterical that the Huns want their 2nd place money but don't want to accept 2nd place.

Non, je ned raggette rien (onimo), Thursday, 9 April 2020 22:26 (four years ago) link

I’ve not been following closely but it needs 75% to go through - I think all 42 clubs are voting together.

michaellambert, Thursday, 9 April 2020 22:33 (four years ago) link

We're going to get stitched up like a kipper here.

The Corbynite Maneuver (Tom D.), Thursday, 9 April 2020 22:43 (four years ago) link

If they want their second place money, they need to give us the title, and accept that the league's done. Because otherwise, if they think they can still win, they have to accept that they might also be overtaken by Aberdeen or Motherwell.

COVID and the Gang (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 15 April 2020 18:50 (four years ago) link

Not sure why the premier league isn't being called with the rest when all 4 leagues had enough votes to carry

Non, je ned raggette rien (onimo), Wednesday, 15 April 2020 20:56 (four years ago) link

Isn’t it because UEFA have threatened to deny entry to European competitions for countries that declare their top leagues over? I dunno why UEFA can’t see football is not happening in any way to allow seasons to complete before next year starts.

treefell, Wednesday, 15 April 2020 22:41 (four years ago) link

I think it’s the UEFA thing. Or that’s my best guess.

I’m going to assume Dundee will be in next season’s expanded top flight, then.

I’m fine with 14 (7/7 split) then 10/10/10 with Kelty and Brora joining.

michaellambert, Wednesday, 15 April 2020 22:48 (four years ago) link

it's nothing to do with the UEFA thing, the clubs that voted against aren't happy with their current league position, either in relegation positions or not at the top of the table. it's as simple as that. this vote only gives the spfl the power to conclude the season. they're not actually going to formerly donor that top-flight until they get the go-ahead

COVID and the Gang (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 15 April 2020 22:58 (four years ago) link

donor should be "do that"

Genuinely had to Google this "ace" - turns out he's been in Scotland since last January and played 7 games.
Decent ilx name though - we've had our fair share of Matts and we seem to love a poll.

The Dutch have just chucked it, no promotion, no relegation and no champions, though tbf Ajax & AZ Alkmaar are only separated at the top by goal difference.

Ligue 1 wound up. Paris St. Germain awarded the title, 12 points ahead with 11 games to play. I don't think I need to remind anyone here that Celtic are 13 points ahead with 8 games to play.

too boring for me to get into but SPFL have issued a rebuttal, seems like a huge damp squib, and while they need 75% to have their resolution go through they're unlikely to clear 10%.
