lol at this from kamiya's design notes on the w101 kickstarter page

In this initial stage, I was fixated on the number 100 instead of 101. Then, towards the end of development, when we had to decide on the official title, the client said: "We'd like you to get a little more creative with the title. For example...what about adding one more to the number?"

I kind of feel like the Switch Animal Crossing might deserve its own thread.

Anyway, the “trouble with neighbours” thread on ILE made me imagine an intentionally adversarial, passive-aggressive version of this, and Stardew Valley, etc

El Tomboto, Saturday, 8 February 2020 17:53 (four years ago) link

I'm sure I read about (an urban myth maybe?) game where you have buried a number of bodies in your garden and have to get on with your neighbours ala animal crossing while making sure that no one digs up your garden and finds out the truth. But I've just searched and can't find anything about it.

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Saturday, 8 February 2020 18:03 (four years ago) link

yes that's right, no reason to search for anything. there's nothing to find here. let's just head toward town and pick up some supplies, yes this way

But guess what? Nobody gives a toot!😂 (Karl Malone), Saturday, 8 February 2020 18:07 (four years ago) link

zappi’s idea sounds like a dream

I imagine you’re also a recent homebuyer in this scenario; the implication is that Tom Nook is trying to frame you, and you also have to convince a white-shoed defense attorney to consider your case

El Tomboto, Saturday, 8 February 2020 18:26 (four years ago) link

animal cross(examin)ing

Homegrown Georgia speedster Ladd McConkey (bizarro gazzara), Saturday, 8 February 2020 18:27 (four years ago) link

does this game have 6ft fences

||||||||, Saturday, 8 February 2020 18:35 (four years ago) link

and who is starting the AnCro thread

||||||||, Saturday, 8 February 2020 18:35 (four years ago) link

I’m not. I’m in a pizza place on Zing

El Tomboto, Saturday, 8 February 2020 18:39 (four years ago) link

don't make me start it with a dumb HRO inspired thread title

||||||||, Saturday, 8 February 2020 18:40 (four years ago) link

Just put the name of the game in all caps and don’t forget the plural like Tim Rogers did

El Tomboto, Saturday, 8 February 2020 18:47 (four years ago) link

Forget it man, you’re unreliable

El Tomboto, Saturday, 8 February 2020 18:51 (four years ago) link

We should prereview

But guess what? Nobody gives a toot!😂 (Karl Malone), Saturday, 8 February 2020 21:01 (four years ago) link

it didn't make my shortlist of 2020 games i'm allowing myself to buy before finishing my dozen backlogged games. 8 out of 10

ciderpress, Saturday, 8 February 2020 21:05 (four years ago) link

this will be the first animal crossing game i've ever played, and i will accept nothing less than the greatest animal crossing game of all time. this is that game. 9.8 out of 10

But guess what? Nobody gives a toot!😂 (Karl Malone), Saturday, 8 February 2020 21:12 (four years ago) link

i'm not even sure how the asynchronous mechanics work, tbh, but zappi can i visit your world? i want to, uh, look in your backyard

But guess what? Nobody gives a toot!😂 (Karl Malone), Saturday, 8 February 2020 21:14 (four years ago) link

or wherever you keep your garden, that is. i assume that's the backyard, given your situation there

But guess what? Nobody gives a toot!😂 (Karl Malone), Saturday, 8 February 2020 21:14 (four years ago) link

you can all visit me but we’re having a 6ft fence

||||||||, Saturday, 8 February 2020 21:20 (four years ago) link

i don't really like animals, and i'm not that into crossing. 2/10

chet san telmo (alomar lines), Saturday, 8 February 2020 22:19 (four years ago) link

the thing is, the worse thing i'd do to anyone's backyard, if i were that kind of person, is maybe dig a hole and bury a body, if one wasn't already there. or to just add a body to the whatever was back there. that's all. #no6footfences #goodfencesmakeungoodneighbors

But guess what? Nobody gives a toot!😂 (Karl Malone), Saturday, 8 February 2020 23:49 (four years ago) link

#nobodyinmybackyard

But guess what? Nobody gives a toot!😂 (Karl Malone), Saturday, 8 February 2020 23:50 (four years ago) link

kali malone pls don’t bury a body near me

||||||||, Sunday, 9 February 2020 00:26 (four years ago) link

i mean sure, i wouldn't do that, especially when people ask that i don't do it.

i'm gonna be so disappointed if you can't bury bodies in animal crossing. if that's the case i alter my prereview to 9.2/10

But guess what? Nobody gives a toot!😂 (Karl Malone), Sunday, 9 February 2020 00:41 (four years ago) link

https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/one-finger-death-punch-2-switch/

finally got a release date, feb 26.
though it's... kinda borderline racist, i loved the first one and i've been waiting for this port

Nhex, Friday, 14 February 2020 04:51 (four years ago) link

might grab all the old DOOMs in the sale

||||||||, Wednesday, 26 February 2020 19:14 (four years ago) link

I have't touched my Switch in months, tbh. Which is probably for the best, since my kid will be playing Animal Crossing on it soon enough.

good time for AnCro to be releasing

||||||||, Monday, 16 March 2020 15:18 (four years ago) link

AC seems to be reviewing well too
maybe that Venturebeat thing is true and a big Direct is coming next week woo

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Monday, 16 March 2020 15:27 (four years ago) link

just gimme a release date for any first party game beyond this week thats all i want to see. one is enough

ciderpress, Monday, 16 March 2020 18:03 (four years ago) link

seriously. also, I know it is just a few days away, but all things considered they should just bump up the animal crossing release and surprise everybody.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 16 March 2020 18:17 (four years ago) link

walked into the room on saturday with the youngest (7yo) playing Captain Toad, but having some issues.

I was able to grab a controller and change the settings to '2 player- assist', then help him out with a few levels and have fun.

then had to go and do adult stuff and handed him back the controller and he went back to playing single player

it was such an easy and frictionless way of doing things, I just dont really see any other manufacturer putting in the time and effort to be inclusive.

that Mario Lego looks awful though, going to steer the kids away from that white elephant...

my opinionation (Hamildan), Tuesday, 17 March 2020 13:06 (four years ago) link

indie direct was a total whiff for me this time

i think there's a demo going up for the trials of mana remake tomorrow

ciderpress, Tuesday, 17 March 2020 17:45 (four years ago) link

Last Campfire looks up our household's alley (moody 3d puzzle adventure), I will probably give the Swery game a whirl if I'm not preoccupied, interesting to note some Apple Arcade exclusives are expiring, glad Dicey Dungeons is coming

silby, Tuesday, 17 March 2020 17:50 (four years ago) link

oh right i'll play the swery game but its already been on my radar

ciderpress, Tuesday, 17 March 2020 17:52 (four years ago) link

happy about the Superliminal port, everything else is .. ok?

Saw a suggestion that since Amazon is prioritizing stocking perishables, emergency stuff and other much needed supplies that those who ordered physical copies of Animal Crossing may get their deliveries late.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 18 March 2020 20:04 (four years ago) link

offering a digital delivery option (with potential hard copy later) would be a good option; obviously this is low priority stuff

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Wednesday, 18 March 2020 20:10 (four years ago) link

not really much you can do this late in the distribution process unless you want to just give the game out for free

ciderpress, Wednesday, 18 March 2020 20:36 (four years ago) link

they can't figure out how to send one-time download codes to physical purchasers?

lukas, Wednesday, 18 March 2020 21:22 (four years ago) link

Their digital purchase system doesn’t work that way so they’d have to implement a whole new thing

silby, Wednesday, 18 March 2020 21:27 (four years ago) link

a lot of that going around just now

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Wednesday, 18 March 2020 21:33 (four years ago) link

Just downloaded the Dragon Quest XI demo. Have only got through the intro cinematic and already feel like this is the game for me right now. A hug from your dear departed grandmother couldn't be more comforting.

lukas, Wednesday, 18 March 2020 21:47 (four years ago) link

amazon could do it out of their stock of download codes if thats what you mean. nintendo doesn't know who preordered physical copies

but thats not gonna happen so if your copy doesnt ship by tomorrow you can just cancel and buy digitally

ciderpress, Wednesday, 18 March 2020 22:53 (four years ago) link

close to panic buying disney tsum tsum festival

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Wednesday, 18 March 2020 23:23 (four years ago) link

I heard that Switch sales are way up, and stores are selling out again. For obvious reasons.

In unrelated news, with the release of AC I think Nintendo now has literally no first party games on its release schedule.
