I just looked at wienerschnitzel's menu and found that it's sadly lacking in wienerschnitzel!

My dad makes his wienerschnitzel with the fried egg and capers on top but I always asked for it without the egg.

There's a German place near NEMC Jacob Wirth's (I think) but I've never been.

my girlfriend makes great potato tacos. She roasts the potatos and we add black beans and cabbage and guac and a hundred other things.

thing is, chicago has more of a variety of mexicans (ie mexicans from various states/regions within Mexico) than all cities in the American Southwest. Which is why you'll get deliciousness like taco arabe in Chicago in addition to the litany of "standard" tacos.

daytime dishwasher at my work has a taco stand she runs at night, her tacos are incredible AND 2 for $3. she keeps trying to make me eat the tripe ones though. i don't like tripe.

NO! I would never claim that. The LA taco is possibly only second to some Austin, TX aberration of a taco that is full of black beans and spinach and shit that won't give you immediate cancer. But you can also argue that that's not really a taco.

Didn't say that, but from what I know, Chicago has a greater diversity within its Mexican population and hence a greater diversity within its Mexican cuisine, tacos and beyond.

chicago has excellent tacos but l.a./s.d. have the best. chicago has the best hot dogs, of course. maybe the best pizza.

i will rep for carney's as an example of a great l.a. dog. they have a nice snappy casing and good spice to their dogs. i think the chili on their chili dogs is a little runny but that's forgivable.
