I think it was born out of rofling about Warren supporters on twitter saying maybe we should vote for Bernie because his supporters will bolt the party if he isn't the nominee

fwiw the main groups I've seen really get engaged are people who are typically non-voters and younger people who may tend to be more hyperbolic to begin with

cynically I'd say that a lot of them in swing states are either going to feel disenfranchised and go back to sporadic voting, or more likely get older and drift toward the center a little as they remain engaged in the process and end up voting for more democrats down the road

check the DSA event attendance numbers in a couple years

hmm I was thinking of just moving outside of north america entirely someday, but maybe I should try just getting out of a swing state first

I can't in good conscience recommend either their candidate interviews or their video content (tho Virgil's interview with Yang was interesting for revealing how little he'd thought through the implications of his proposals). their interest in the fifth-tier candidates is strange to me.

thankfully they long ago dropped their "marianne williamson is genuinely interesting" shtick/bit

I like Berger's work generally, he's hilarious, but that segment was a very solid case against listening to all its principles on any topic

Pod Save guys have been very complimentary of Bernie for some time now but that doesn’t really matter if you’re less concerned with winning elections than being the coolest kids in the room.

They can tell which way the wind is blowing, but they also consistently seem to have direct ties to the worst aspects of the Dem party establishment / wider world of bullshit (like that Medicare for Some People Maybe group)

i thought the context of this was Bernie supporters doxxing/harrassing leadership in the Culinary Union. i think the problem here is we're always talking about different groups of people who don't overlap that much other than supporting Sanders. like I don't THINK it was any of the Chapo or Chapo-adjacent guys who were harrassing union members, but I'm sure some of them do drag Favreau on Twitter. maybe the rest of his rant clarifies that distinction but if it doesn't then yeah, he does need to stop whining.

on the subject of broader lefty pods, I've been enjoying QAnon Anonymous, which is pretty slick and polished for a show that follows (and mocks) the minutiae of contemporary conspiracy culture

I forgot about Vanderpod, but I mean in a more politics-oriented podcast.

The former Splinter people should start one. HamNo, Katherine and Libby Watson would be a good cast. (Except the obvious reason that 2/3 have real writing jobs.)
