Unless you're making a mordant comment on the viewing-figures-based likelihood of shows getting renewed lol

Problem with changing the voting is that not everyone who sent in a ballot is going to know things have changed.

Charlotte Brontesaurus (Leee), Friday, 31 January 2020 17:53 (four years ago) link

imago: sorry, it's not changing this year.
It'll be okay! There will still be lots to explore and argue about even if the final tabulation doesn't meticulously reflect everyone's very specific enthusiasms to the proper decimal point.
Plus: Moka images! How can you not be happy with Moka images!

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Friday, 31 January 2020 17:54 (four years ago) link

Also forks if you aren't too busy tabulating results I could really use your help painting my house. And by help I mean basically that I need you to just be a dear and do it for me. I'll be out of town for the weekend, hope you can finish by the time I'm back!

Dr. Teeth and the Women (Old Lunch), Friday, 31 January 2020 17:55 (four years ago) link

obviously I feel like an asshole being like this but...a straight 25 points -> 1 point system would have been the way to go. send me the results and I'll tabulate them all lol

opden gnash (imago), Friday, 31 January 2020 18:07 (four years ago) link

alternatively let's just do this and think about a revision next time, sorry to have been a pest

opden gnash (imago), Friday, 31 January 2020 18:09 (four years ago) link

I like the limitations of the current voting.

Yerac, Friday, 31 January 2020 18:10 (four years ago) link

Nah, stick with Ulysses' plan. Changing the voting after 30+ people have voted is dumb.

Dan Worsley, Friday, 31 January 2020 18:10 (four years ago) link

Just a thought, but the time to issue concerns about the methods of tabulation would've maybe been any day prior to the voting deadline. Again, just a thought.

Dr. Teeth and the Women (Old Lunch), Friday, 31 January 2020 18:14 (four years ago) link

My ballot is in! I just put in four things I really, really liked.

Guayaquil (eephus!), Friday, 31 January 2020 18:30 (four years ago) link

It’s ok LJ u just being u!

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Friday, 31 January 2020 18:34 (four years ago) link

And for the record: I realize that is not the best means of scoring for future. But we’re here now!

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Friday, 31 January 2020 18:41 (four years ago) link

I am fine with different scoring for different polls, let a hundred flowers bloom! In a way, this scoring system forced me to put down four things I really liked and skip six which I like a lot but which lots of other people also like and maybe this helps reward individual enthusiasms, I dunno.

Guayaquil (eephus!), Friday, 31 January 2020 18:43 (four years ago) link

yeah, i don't think every poll needs P&J bloody tears level of point debating.

Yerac, Friday, 31 January 2020 18:44 (four years ago) link

Well under the current scoring regime I found myself kicking some shows off my ballot so that I only had 10 total entries.

Charlotte Brontesaurus (Leee), Friday, 31 January 2020 18:47 (four years ago) link

i also only did 4.

Yerac, Friday, 31 January 2020 18:56 (four years ago) link

I didn't actually order my already submitted ballot that carefully after the initial top four, tbh, and considered only voting for four also.

Good taste, bit Victorian but who isn't? (jed_), Friday, 31 January 2020 19:17 (four years ago) link

No reason to kick things off just to have ten! Any picks between eleven and twenty get five points and doesn’t penalize your first ten at all!

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Friday, 31 January 2020 19:17 (four years ago) link

Only benefit to fewer picks is the under five ballot, where every vote gets fifteen.
Intent there is to encourage casuals to vote and to have a rooting interest. It appears to be working, we have ballots of all types now!

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Friday, 31 January 2020 19:19 (four years ago) link

Oh damn I misread the rules then! Can I submit a revised ballot?

Charlotte Brontesaurus (Leee), Friday, 31 January 2020 19:21 (four years ago) link

Just for you yes

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Friday, 31 January 2020 19:24 (four years ago) link

I'm ~*special*~

Charlotte Brontesaurus (Leee), Friday, 31 January 2020 19:27 (four years ago) link

Fixed!

Charlotte Brontesaurus (Leee), Friday, 31 January 2020 19:45 (four years ago) link

i sent in my ballot

omar little, Friday, 31 January 2020 19:50 (four years ago) link

I don't have the sensibility to work out whether 'strategically voting' for only a top 10 will benefit my favoured shows or not. Nor do I really have the restraint to only vote for a top 10.

tangenttangent, Friday, 31 January 2020 21:39 (four years ago) link

Voted!

tangenttangent, Friday, 31 January 2020 21:45 (four years ago) link

Likewise!

opden gnash (imago), Friday, 31 January 2020 21:58 (four years ago) link

Having just finished Giri/Haji, I regret not voting for it.

Charlotte Brontesaurus (Leee), Friday, 31 January 2020 22:20 (four years ago) link

I think that’s 2020?

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Friday, 31 January 2020 22:48 (four years ago) link

I'ma vote, if only to distract myself from today's politics.

Ainsley James Gryffyd Lowbeer Holdsworth (Raymond Cummings), Saturday, 1 February 2020 01:18 (four years ago) link

It's amazing how few of these shows I've seen, though there are some things I *wanted* to see but didn't get around to or didn't have access to.

Ainsley James Gryffyd Lowbeer Holdsworth (Raymond Cummings), Saturday, 1 February 2020 01:25 (four years ago) link

messed up that the good place wasn't nominated

Clay, Saturday, 1 February 2020 01:36 (four years ago) link

You’re not the first to vote for it

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Saturday, 1 February 2020 04:10 (four years ago) link

Anyway, last call? Any left over ballots unmailed? Let me know, otherwise I will add and tabulate and close when I am done.

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Saturday, 1 February 2020 04:12 (four years ago) link

I just sent you a revised ballot if not too late

Vinnie, Saturday, 1 February 2020 04:19 (four years ago) link

I would have voted for bob's burgers too if it was on there, but I somehow doubt there are many other people clamoring for it

indeed, yes, I posted that to mean that it would be a bad idea to change the rules / shift the goalposts after people had already submitted their ballots.

I don't think a different weighting would have a significant effect anyway.

Good taste, bit Victorian but who isn't? (jed_), Saturday, 1 February 2020 05:42 (four years ago) link

add The Good Place to the end of mine too if you can be bothered, no wucks if not

don't care didn't ask still clappin (sic), Saturday, 1 February 2020 06:10 (four years ago) link

wucks?

Good taste, bit Victorian but who isn't? (jed_), Saturday, 1 February 2020 06:13 (four years ago) link

Same - I’d like The Good Place added to my ballot too if possible but OK if it’s not.

don't care didn't ask still clappin (sic), Saturday, 1 February 2020 10:05 (four years ago) link

added two 5pt votes for good place for Roz and sic and changed vinnie's ballot and am adding everything up so hang on a second...

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Saturday, 1 February 2020 17:23 (four years ago) link

Okay, great turnout! 53 ballots and 585 votes!

I'll be rolling out the 77 Winners (yay, we got enough where #77 got two votes at least)in about two to three weeks once we get done with the tabulation, Moka tackles images, I pull youtubes and ilx threads... and oh yeah we gotta get the ILM album poll done still. Nonetheless, I'm excited! Great job everybody!

Thread may now be used for speculation on winners!

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Saturday, 1 February 2020 18:36 (four years ago) link

also i looked up giri/haji and added to my netflix queue so thanks!

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Saturday, 1 February 2020 18:38 (four years ago) link

yeah, thanks for that, watched my first episode last night. was just missing Kelly Macdonald last week and there she is!

by the light of the burning Citroën, Saturday, 1 February 2020 18:43 (four years ago) link

Yeah I didn't realize voting for the Good Place was possible! But I'm comfy with my top 4 as they are, as much as I like the Good Place (would have rated season 1 as #1 of 2016 I imagine) I'd put 2019 TGP in the group of things I'd be happy to see in the rolllout but to which I don't want to give the same points as I do to my absolute faves.

Guayaquil (eephus!), Saturday, 1 February 2020 19:21 (four years ago) link

I missed voting fo this but a top 4 would be

1) Pose
2) bojack Horseman
3) The good place
4) midnight Diner (深夜食堂)

Very much colluded by my veil f this weekend, however Pose is definitely for all time.
