definitely lives beyond the bottom of the hill.

you can't put cheese and peanut butter on a taco.

good point except yes you can.

Both can taste awesome, but only one can taste awesome and still be remotely healthy, ie could feasibly be eaten on a daily basis without evetually ending up with myocardial infarction.

possibly lame reasoning, but there you go. Tacos.

sorry, but if it's a taco and it can be reasonably described as healthy, it is a dogshit taco.

(╬ ಠ益ಠ) (cankles), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 16:39 (fourteen years ago) link

nah, that's not true. tacos w/ spicy black beans or refried beans or whatever are awesome

mark cl, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 16:41 (fourteen years ago) link

wrong. fire roasted chicken taco w/cilantro and onions and salsa verde ftw.
xp

Tacos w fish and avocado and radishes and lime.

But not someone who should be dead anyway (Laurel), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 16:43 (fourteen years ago) link

ugh, imagine a fish hot dog

get money fuck witches (HI DERE), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 16:44 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah i just find eating 2-3 duplicate food things annoying.

this is why you get 2-3 DIFFERENT tacos. one hot dog wouldn't fill me up and ugh do not want to eat more than that. but i could eat 80 tacos from just one taco place and each could be very noticeably different.

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 16:53 (fourteen years ago) link

besides being more versatile, tacos are also more credible as actual food. hot dogs are a lovable novelty item for baseball games and family reunions, like the crap beer you drink them with.

death from abroad (lukas), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 16:54 (fourteen years ago) link

uhh "... you drink with them."

if it's not cooked with lard, it's not fit for a taco.

voted hot dogs though i shore love me a good socal taco. kinda the opposite problem in l.a. w/r/t canks' previous comment. lots of good tacos here, tough to find a decent dog. but i love a hot dog done right more than tacos.

I have to go with hot dogs because I've never had a good veggie taco. I do, however, eat the veggie version of these Spike's babies every now and then (but with mustard) and they're AMAZING:

I couldn't go with any of the fancy dogs at dougs yesterday. Went with the basic grilled dog with everything on it, so I could have my proper chicago do, which I forgot is a messy pain in the ass to eat, and a polish dog with kraut and relish. I did not put ketchup on either, as all the signs say, but will secretly fess to being a ketchup on dog fan. With relish.

from wiki:

# Chicago, Illinois - largest Mexican community outside a border state and second largest in the USA.

dan selzer, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 19:42 (fourteen years ago) link

so it can reasonably claim to have the best of one and second best of the other

second city once again

velko, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 19:44 (fourteen years ago) link

That's a lot of qualifiers there.

But yeah, we have tacos in Chicago.

CD spinnin', AC hummin', feelin' pretty (kenan), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 19:44 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah dudes obviously largest number of mexicans equals best tacos duh

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 19:45 (fourteen years ago) link

chicago is home to the frankfurter diaspora

velko, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 19:46 (fourteen years ago) link

if you assume that the best tacos are made by mexicans, then yes, more mexicans increases the chances of awesome tacos

i want to marry a pizza (gbx), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 19:47 (fourteen years ago) link

I have to go with hot dogs because I've never had a good veggie taco

This is totally weird to me! I kept thinking as I was reading this thread that the reason I immediately chose tacos is because I don't meat. Veggie hot dogs can be decent (when I'm at Hot Doug's, I get a veggie dog with some of the more exotic condiments), but they're always a substitute for the real thing. Whereas you can get a great taco with just beans, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and avocado.

Bianca Jagger (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 19:48 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah i've had some great veggie tacos before

i want to marry a pizza (gbx), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 19:48 (fourteen years ago) link

and, yeah, a veggie dog is just a slavish imitation of a hot dog, whereas a veggie taco is like all tacos just one more permutation, another color in the rainbow
