And even if I think of hot dog as meaning ANY kind of encased meat topped with anything on any kind of bun, Tacos still win. Now, I REALLY love processed meat, but the purity of a good pork taco, with it's crunchy bits and soft bits and fatty bits and juicy bits and questionable bits, all the textures, is just a wonderful thing.

voted hot dog - a great taco is hard to eff with, but great tacos are tougher to make/find

(╬ ಠ益ಠ) (cankles), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 15:42 (fourteen years ago) link

it's funny you mention "bullshit" on a hotdog, and then have ketchup

I know, that is the only spot where I deviate from hot dog purity.

I think they featured their taco arabe on DD&D, too. Further evidence of the taco's versatility: tacos arabe have a unique taste, and i find myself craving one once a month or so. (usually i get a cemita AND a taco arabe, and don't have to eat for the rest of the day. or weekend)

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 15:43 (fourteen years ago) link

wtf where do you live? that is just insane.

New Orleans isn't the greatest taco town, but all the C. American laborers after the storm brought in a big influx of taco/pupusa places. I probably eat tacos twice as often as hot dogs, too. The hot dog is just a higher high. What can I say, I'm a mystery meat kinda guy.

pj, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 15:46 (fourteen years ago) link

for instance, u need some freshly made tortillas for a truly pimpin taco experience; a poppy seed bun is about as fancy as u need 2 get w/a hot dog, and even then it still doesnt really matter as long as u got ur mustard and a frank.

sauerkraut on hot dogs is special tho

mark cl, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 15:48 (fourteen years ago) link

but tacos own this completely

mark cl, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 15:48 (fourteen years ago) link

Has to be the right mustard though, plain ordinary yellow doesn't, erm, cut the mustard really.

Sorry dudes but British people aren't allowed to have opinions on hot dogs or tacos. We don't come over there and opine about the proper brand of mint jelly to stuff in your pudding for tea.

ketchup and onion is all i need on a dog. anything more and you're overshadowing the meat. i don't know where this no ketchup fatwa came from, but it's highly bullshitty.

went straight to the Red Apple, polish all you can eat buffet

This place isn't that great, but if you are starving, I bet it gets the job done.

i. a vote for tacos is basically a 'i'm gonna move to CANADA!!!!!!!!!!!!' vote. go back to russia, ivan

ii. there is not a goddamn thing wrong with neon yellow mustard. is it ideal? no. but it is mustard and it is pimp as hell.

^^^^^

Even expanding "hot dogs" to include all kinds of sausages on a bun, it would still be tacos.

I have had people look at me funny for putting mustard on my hot dog while theirs was slathered in chili and cheese; I don't really pay attention to these people.

In any case, I am with your president in liking the spicy mustard.

Mornington Crescent (Ed), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 16:04 (fourteen years ago) link

I put cheese and ketchup on my hot dogs alla times, if I can get it. Don't rly see the point in eating a dog that is not a cheese or chili & cheese dog. A serious sausage like kielbasa or something, then yes, it haz a taste that is worth tasting. But a standard dog does not.

Also, can't believe anyone wd argue on this one but: best dog ever is blackened over an open flame.

Both can taste awesome, but only one can taste awesome and still be remotely healthy, ie could feasibly be eaten on a daily basis without evetually ending up with myocardial infarction.

possibly lame reasoning, but there you go. Tacos.

sorry, but if it's a taco and it can be reasonably described as healthy, it is a dogshit taco.

(╬ ಠ益ಠ) (cankles), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 16:39 (fourteen years ago) link

nah, that's not true. tacos w/ spicy black beans or refried beans or whatever are awesome

wrong. fire roasted chicken taco w/cilantro and onions and salsa verde ftw.

ugh, imagine a fish hot dog

get money fuck witches (HI DERE), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 16:44 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah i just find eating 2-3 duplicate food things annoying.

this is why you get 2-3 DIFFERENT tacos. one hot dog wouldn't fill me up and ugh do not want to eat more than that. but i could eat 80 tacos from just one taco place and each could be very noticeably different.

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 16:53 (fourteen years ago) link

besides being more versatile, tacos are also more credible as actual food. hot dogs are a lovable novelty item for baseball games and family reunions, like the crap beer you drink them with.
