x-post - Yeah, your office where you can eat the frozen meal I bought you yesterday.

can you recommend somewhere that is good for lunch in the hynes/prudential center vicinity?

assuming you forgo the frozen meal, hit the Pru food court or head over to Newbury and try Bosstone Pizza

get money fuck witches (HI DERE), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 15:02 (fourteen years ago) link

He works in the Pru and I work directly across from it so we've hit the food crt numerous times. Have not been to Bosstone Pizza though - am intrigued!

it used to be a divey pizza place with awesome slices; now it is apparently a Trading Spaces victim, hopefully still with awesome slices

that place has damn good sicilian slices iirc. also there is an upper crust on newbury now.

i wish the garden of eden was still open--more of a walk but amazing sandwiches.

"too worldly to compete on /b/" (King Boy Pato), Wednesday, 24 June 2009 09:45 (fourteen years ago) link

Anyway, back on track: when are the Hartford Whalers coming back to the NHL? They had the BEST 1970s graphic design in a sporting team's logo ever.

"too worldly to compete on /b/" (King Boy Pato), Wednesday, 24 June 2009 09:46 (fourteen years ago) link

ummm probably never. hartford is not a major sports (or even second-tier-nhl-level) city. everyone in ct is either a boston or nyc sports loyalist and the nhl has forgotten that it's a regional league.

unlucky son (call all destroyer), Wednesday, 24 June 2009 13:30 (fourteen years ago) link

Yeah but...the logo and uniforms! It's much better than that old rubbish that Bruins rock up in.

"too worldly to compete on /b/" (King Boy Pato), Wednesday, 24 June 2009 13:35 (fourteen years ago) link

Glad CAD jumped in cause I had nothing for this one. However, I just checked and those were indeed some amazing uniforms.

btw old-school vancouver canucks is probably the high point of the design yr talking about:

Let's move into the world of art: Best Wahlberg? (aka NKOTB or Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch?)

"too worldly to compete on /b/" (King Boy Pato), Wednesday, 24 June 2009 13:54 (fourteen years ago) link

Nice - going straight to Boston's finest contributors to the art world.

This is a tough one for me because Donnie was my favorite NKOTB but I also like M. Wahlberg! I will have to think on this one.

Also:

http://images67.imikimi.com/image/images_full/135238067.gif

I made that for my boo Donnie.

☺☻☺☻come on ppl now smile on u brother☺☻☺☻ (ENBB), Wednesday, 24 June 2009 13:58 (fourteen years ago) link

Yeah despite my preteen love for D. Marky Mark kind of wins this one hands down.

(I still have not seen the Happening. Killer trees!)

☺☻☺☻come on ppl now smile on u brother☺☻☺☻ (ENBB), Wednesday, 24 June 2009 14:04 (fourteen years ago) link

I'm definetly in the Marky Mark camp. "Good Vibrations" is a bangin' tune and he's been in great movies like The Departed. And The Happening, let's not forget The Happening.

fyi folks the canucks logo is a stylized 'c'

and i gotta go w/mark on the wahlberg front.

"too worldly to compete on /b/" (King Boy Pato), Thursday, 25 June 2009 11:11 (fourteen years ago) link

the whale, sadly, will never resurface in the nhl. partly because they played in a mall. some, however, still mourn them.

meanwhile what can you, king boy pato, tell us about NICK HORVATH

mookieproof, Thursday, 25 June 2009 11:21 (fourteen years ago) link

Hartford was ahead of its time. Didn't they turn the old Montreal Forum into a mall?

According to Nick Horvath's Wikipedia entry, he played for the Adelaide 36ers which I certainly will rep him for that. However, he left for the South Dragons, which makes him the worst person alive.

"too worldly to compete on /b/" (King Boy Pato), Thursday, 25 June 2009 12:11 (fourteen years ago) link

~~~***~~~INTERMISSION~~~***~~~
Now that Australia's NBL is PROBABLY dead, King Boy Pato, will rank THE TOP TEAM TEAMS that have played in Australia's premier basketball competition.
1. ADELAIDE 36ERS
Back before the SANFL reduced to second league status by those wankers from Melbourne, there was only one team for South Australians. No, it wasn't the local shitty cricket team. It was straight outta Apollo Stadium then THE CLIPSAL POWERHOUSE with the razzle dazzle in blue, red and gold headed up by The Chairman of the Boooards, Mark Davis! I might have only been a year old when the 36ers won their first NBL Championship but I grew up hearing the stories of how the Super Sixers lit up Apollo Stadium, led by a man called Ken Cole who coached the team in between snorting coke. Unfortunately, when we won that trio of turn-of-the-century championships, we had a slightly less exciting coach: Phil Smyth.
"Famous fans include television presenter Grant Denyer, and former World Number 1 Tennis Player Lleyton Hewitt."
2. SOUTH EAST MELBOURNE MAGIC
For the name alone. Excessively geographically precise AND a lazy-as-you-like BA ripoff nickname.
3. EASTSIDE SPECTERS
Apparently the name was RACIST.
4. GOLD COAST COUGARS
Now when you talk about Gold Coast Cougars, it's 30 and 40 something women with excessively fake tans??
5. GEELONG SUPERCATS
This shows you how popular and awesome and great basketball was in Australia. Aussie Rules had to do with merely "Cats" but the hoops heroes upped the ante to infinity with SUPERCATS!!
6. PERTH WILDCATS
I grudging give mad respect to the bros out west. They're not the Melbourne Tigers or Sydney Kings and they helped up keep the Mitsubishi Trophy away from the big smoke.
7. WEST SYDNEY RAZORBACKS
Would be higher if it wasn't for the "Sydney Spirit" DEBACLE!!
8. SINGAPORE SLINGERS
Can you believe that Singapore wasn't into third-rate basketball???
9. WOLLONGONG HAWKS
If the new NBL doesn't have them in, it won't be the NBL. PUTTING IT BACK IN OUR COMMUNITY, YO.
10. TOWNSVILLE CROCODILES
You weren't expecting the Canberra Cannons, were you?
what is a better state NH or VT
what is a better school amherst or umass
what is a better place to kayak RI or ME
what is worse place to get gay married VT or CT
what is a neutral ground for drunk partygoers in burlington
waaiiiittttt what (Lamp), Friday, 26 June 2009 19:16 (fourteen years ago) link
VT
Amherst
ME
I'd guess VT if only because CT is closer to NYC and can better leverage NYC resources; in terms of scenery VT would win in a cakewalk
Don't know Burlington at all
RI
waaiiiittttt what (Lamp), Friday, 26 June 2009 19:21 (fourteen years ago) link
~ Live free or die
~ U.S. News & World Report would say amherst but I will go with umass because amherst doesn't have a song about it (at least not to my knowledge)
~ I am partial to RI
~ CT
~ The last time I was in Burlington I was 10 and definitely not drunk so no idea.
